Best CD I've Ever Heard, September 4, 2003
This review is from: Young & the Hopeless (Audio CD)
I had never had a CD where I loved ever song on it until my brother gave me this CD. I had heard a couple of their songs before and I had fallen in love with them. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the songs I hadn't heard on the CD. I listened to it once and loved it! I drove my friends crazy with talking about it. About a month later I bought their first CD, Good Charlotte. The message in the first CD is more about their love life and that jocks and the popular people hate them while The Young and The Hopeless was more 'they hate us, who cares, I don't, they aren't worth our time'. I recommend both, but The Young and The Hopeless I think is better.
PS Don't let their look scare you away. They have a good message to people who are having a bad life.

A great cd, August 6, 2004
This review is from: Young & the Hopeless (Audio CD)
First of all, I'd love to point something out. Who give a #?!& if Good Charlotte is punk? Any moronic fool that judges someone on what their image is is absolutely pathetic. Maybe if you could possibly look at the music? So what if GC isn't punk? And you know what's funny? A few of the band members actually said "we don't consider ourselves punk." Maybe you should study up before you do some bashing?
Anyhow, I'm not particularly into 'pop' music, but I love GC. Not because I consider them punk, because... I don't, but because of the messages in their songs. Like "Hold On," "Emotionless," and even funny ones like "Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous." Not everyone likes this kind of music... so what? I'll suggest something to all the people who are "outraged" by GC; constructive criticism. It's what MATURE people do- people who don't judge what people look like, but what really counts. In this case; music.
Here are my ratings for the songs:
A new beginning- 2 stars. I don't particularly like instrumental pieces, but the music is pretty awesome.
The Anthem- 4 stars. Overplayed, but still a good song with a good message.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous- 5 stars. Even overplayed, it makes me laugh now and then.
Wondering- 4 stars. Good song... and catchy!
The Story of My Old Man- 5 stars. Makes you think... great song.
Girls and Boys- 5 stars. Funny song, Hilarious video!
My Bloody Valentine- 3 stars. Okay song... it was overplayed, but my fault for that one ;).
Hold on- 5 stars. If I could give it more, I would. This song has saved many lives, and I'll always thank GC for that.
Riot Girl- 4 stars. Love the chorus, and catchy riffs :D.
Say Anything- 5 stars. Even if this is one of the most "poppish" songs by GC, it's still good.
The Day that I Die- 4 stars. I got the chorus stuck in my head once too many times... but it's a good song :).
Young and the Hopeless- 5 stars. Everyone should've heard this song by now. Another great hit by GC!
Emotionless- 5 stars. I would also love to give this more stars, and this song is part of my life as well.
Movin On- 5 stars. I love it; and it's another great one as well!
All in all, the second cd is just as fantastic as the first- best cd I own. If you don't agree, fine. Just don't tell me off for liking what I like. Get a life... you obviously need one.

Pop, Punk, Rock, Real people don't need labels, December 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Young & the Hopeless (Audio CD)
And neither does Good Charlotte. With their mix of Pop, Punk, and Rock...there isn't alot out there that sounds just like them. And the ones that do are trying to copy them. Their mix is incrediable catchy from beginning to end. 14 tracks of bliss. A New Beginning is just an intro song that Benji produced. The Anthem is very catchy and has a great video, 9/10. Lifestyles was the first single and finally got them some MTV airplay, 9/10. Wondering is one of the stronger songs on the record...I give it 10/10. Story of my old man is okay, the music is good but it's definitely one of the 'weaker' songs on the record...i only give it 7.5/10. Girls&Boys is possibly the best, but nonetheless the shortest, track so it only gets 9/10. Bloody Valentine gets a 9/10...becuz it was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's story "Tell-Tale Heart"...which is one of his best. Hold On gets a 9/10 too. I love the anti-suicide message...suicide isn't the anwser. Riot Girl gets only 8/10..catchy but short. Say Anything...possibly my fave track, gets a 10/10. A love based song that I totally love. Day That I Die and Young & Hopeless get 8/10. Emotionless is possibly the most personal song the Twins have written; it's a letter to their long-lost father reminding him of the pain he caused. 10/10. And Movin' On ends the CD with only 8/10. I personally feel they should have switched 13&14 around and had Emotionless end the CD, but thats just me.
