5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious look back at what Jesus was like growing up.
This book is a hilarious take on what Jesus was like growing up. It is great for the young and old and the religious to not-so-religious. My friends and family all loved it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Jesus as an angsty teen?
I guess it's hard for me to picture the biblical Jesus as an angsty goth teen, or playing spin the bottle at somebody's bat-mitzvah with lipstick all over his face. Some of the "humor" will undoubtedly not be seen as such by most Christians, but then, it doesn't appear that they are really the target audience for this book.

Here's hoping they follow it up...

A very funny and witty look at what childhood might have been like for Jesus growing up. From fitting in at elementary school, playing sports to learning how to drive. It's hilarious without being offensive, so it is gift safe for everyone.

Jesus has never been funnier!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally!, December 4, 2008
This review is from: Young Jesus Chronicles (Paperback)
All this time we wondered what Jesus' life was like between his infancy and adulthood. Now we know. Amazingly funny. I would have easily enjoyed another 100 pages!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous Christian joke book, March 23, 2011

This review is from: Young Jesus Chronicles: A Cartoon Collection (Paperback)
Great choice if you're looking for a Christian book with a sense of humor. Of course, the reader has to have a basic knowledge of Christianity in order to get the jokes. It's edgy enough without being sacrilegious, and sometimes, it's hard to find that balance. It makes a great gift for someone.

YOUNG JESUS CHRONICLES is a hilarious little book that imagines what it might have been like for Jesus growing up as a child and young adult, but in a Biblical society that has more in common with our culture than with the real culture of the Middle East in 1st Century A.D. The book is divided into three chapters. The first features comic strips of Jesus from ages 1-6, the second features Jesus ages 7-12, and the last features Jesus ages 13-18. An example from the first chapter shows a toddler Jesus walking on water to Mary & Joseph with the caption "First Steps", an example from chapter two shows Jesus talking to a group of kids at a playground with the caption "The Sermon of the Jungle Gym", and an example comic from chapter three shows Jesus playing baseball standing on first base as the catcher and pitcher talk with the caption "Don't worry about the runner...He shall not steal." I enjoyed most of the comics in YOUNG JESUS CHRONICLES, though there were some I thought were a bit too cheesy. I do know there are some Christian believers who might be offended by some of the comics (for instance one featuring Jesus in Goth-like clothing, complaining that Joseph just doesn't understand him), but these comics are really harmless. God does have a sense of humor after all.

Here's hoping they follow it up with a "Young Muhammad Chronicles." Now THAT would be funny.
