I watch a newer version of this show not too long ago. When I did some research I found that this one was in fact the first original one.

Was I ever surprised to find two of my favorite characters from The Vampire Diaries and The Originals (Rebekkah & Hailey) as young girls playing mermaids.
I had always assumed they were British not Australian. Well, be that as it may.
This show is a really fun show for girls and boys alike. I am an adult and I enjoy it. I know that preteens and teens will definitely enjoy it.

It's fun, it's quirky, and it has that little supernatural touch that a lot of popular young adult TV shows have nowadays.
The show deals with realistic issues that girls in this age group go through. Having crushes on boys, being betrayed by friends, Bullying, family problems, making the hard BUT right choices, etc.
The fact that there is a supernatural/mermaid element makes it all the more interesting. It manages to teach lessons without being boring or preachy.
I will definitely love if this show and the other version of it becomes a popular choice for all preteen and teen girls.

The other version of this show is the newer one. It has a similar name too. H20:Mako Island, if I am not mistaken.
The head vampire known as Líssa Dragomir in The Vampire Academy movie plays a mermaid in the newer version.

If you're looking for a new TV show that has a supernatural twist to it and is a little "cleaner" (sex, murder, etc.) than other shows with a supernatural twist to them, then check this TV show out.

This is a really cute show. Innocent, island adventures with three mermaid girls. For this genre it is very good. Great for teenage girls, but I must admit, I like it and I'm not a teenager. Nice little movie to multitask to. I clean my room and work on projects while it is playing. Hard to find sweet little shows like this one these days!

I began watching this with my 3 and 4 year-old daughters, because they love mermaids. The show is really pretty well written and carries a decent plotline. My girls love it, and I would rather watch this then a lot of the other stuff that's available for kids on tv.

I really like this show because it is very appropriate and interesting. It doesn't have any sex or alcohol or swears. It is very appropriate for kids 10 and up and interesting enough for 16 year olds and down.My dad likes to watch it with me sometimes.H2O: Just Add Water, is a show that brings a whole new seeing point to mermaids and fairy tales. It isn't little girlish yet not too inappropriate. I recommend this show for everybody.

I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old. They are too old for Sesame Street and other stuff, forget most of Nic, and of course, nothing on regular tv is something we care to have them watch. This show is wholesome, smart, creative, and great for them. It is nice knowing they can watch a show on the Kindle Fire without me needing to oversee.

We stumbled upon this show searching for mermaid shows, for my mermaid obsessed daughter in Amazon Prime Instant video. I'm SO glad we did. It's so cute. It's like Charlie's Angles meets The Little Mermaid meets TMNT. A group of teens stumbles upon mermaid powers and has to cope with real life, and no one can know except there one trusty friend. Each episode was unique and super cute. My daughter loves the show!!! I would highly recommend it. And the other plus is that I LIKE watching it with her !!!!!!

Targeted primarily at young girls under the age of thirteen, "H2O: Just Add Water" has a goofy and appealing premise that will tap into your love of mermaids. You do love mermaids, don't you? Three sixteen year olds discover a mysterious glowing pool of water through an underwater channel that will upend their lives irrevocably. This adventure has long range repercussions as each of the girls find themselves transformed into a mermaid! Needless to say, they must avoid contact with the sea to keep their flippers a secret. There is plenty of humor surrounding these changes, but the show never really addresses the fundamental questions that you really care about. What happens when it rains? As if this wasn't enough, though, they also have other powers over water as well. Rikki (Cariba Heine) can boil water, Cleo (Phoebe Tonkin) can manipulate it, and Emma (Claire Holt) can freeze it. That would be useful at a party, huh?

"H2O: Just Add Water" ran for three seasons in Australia and has been shown more recently on Nickelodeon stateside. Season One consists of 26 episodes (each approximately 24 minutes) for a total of almost eleven hours over the 4 DVD set. This release also has a edited 90 minute film that puts together the most salient plot points of Season One in a singular feature. This Bonus film is nice, I suppose. But after watching a full season, I'm not really sure who would be interested in the recap!

Basically, the show plays out as you might expect. It is really about how the girls adjust to their powers, how they try to evade being caught, and how they try to appear normal. They want to do all the things an ordinary teenager would do, so the show deals with relationships, friendships, families, and school amidst the more fantastical mayhem.
