By 1988, Corey Hart had been forgotten by those who liked his 1984 hit "Sunglasses at Night." He was, and still is, written off by most music critics. However, those of us who are fans know that Corey Hart left "Sunglasses at Night" long behind him and far surpassed it as well. 1988 was the year Hart released Young Man Running. It was his fourth cd (out of eight total so far). On it, Hart went a more acoustic route which served him quite well. I personally think that of all eight of his cds this is the one to own. All eleven tracks are well done and less overly dramatic than his earlier works. The cd has some great songs such as "In Your Soul", "Don't Take Me To The Racetrack", "Chippin' Away", "Truth Will Set You Free", "Lone Wolf", "Spot You In A Coalmine", "Chase The Sun" and "So It Goes". This is Hart's most consistent work both musically and lyrically. For those seeking more than just "Sunglasses At Night", "Never Surrender", "I Am By Your Side", "Everything In My Heart" and "It Ain't Enough", this is the cd to have. Although his 1996 self-titled cd is a close second and his 1998 cd Jade is right behind that, Young Man Running is superior to either. Most people have written Corey Hart off as a one hit wonder joke. He is far above that. This is a must have for any rock collector.

5.0 out of 5 stars Continued to grow as an artist..., February 11, 2002

I hadn't bought a Hart Cd before I got my hands
on his 98' release "JADE". I grew up in my
early 20's with the start of MTV and was very
familar with Corey Harts music but I enjoyed
the videos at the time and just never bought his
music. After listening and really enjoying Jade
I started to collect Corey Hart. This is another
outstanding collection of songs, it seems you
can always count on the majority of his Cds to
have great music, melodies and songwriting and
he does a great job speaking to you about life
and love. I am more surprised than anything that
he faded out of the US music scene, his music is
well worth checking out, Very Uplifting stuff!
In your soul is just one of the many great tracks
here.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOUNG ARTIST GROWING, November 17, 2002

This review is from: Young Man Running (Audio CD)
By 1988, original release year of this cd, Corey had established himself as Canada's most prominent singer songwriter.
And also one of the few that could place at least one Top 40 hit with each release.
This one is no exception.
IN YOUR SOUL is the track in question.
A very good one to my opinion...that fits nicely into this collection.
After 1986's FIELDS OF FIRE album, Corey decided to leave behind most of the electronic devices and concentrate his production mostly on some kind of an acoustic line.
Again the lyrics prove to be awesome.
There is not a single track on this collection that i do not like: DON'T TAKE ME TO THE RACETRACK is the tune that keeps a bind with Corey's previous production in terms of guitar riffs.
TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE is an entrancing anthem that has Corey sounding the hell like Sting, LONE WOLF is the rock-driven track off the album...sort of Elvis in the '80's.
SPOT YOU IN A COALMINE has got a great backup vocal work by Ruby Turner; and then there are a couple of masterpieces: STILL IN LOVE is the typical Hart's ballad, moving and meaningful.
But the big surprise comes across with NO LOVE LOST, the divorce of his own parents analyzed and put down in words very cleverly and very tastefully. never a self-accusation sounded so good!
This CD is truly a masterpiece...highly raccomended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Corey Hart is the best, November 2, 2000
This review is from: Young Man Running (Audio CD)
Actually I'd give more stars if I could. Corey Hart's my favorite artist. He has that certain j'une sai quai?? that makes you always come back and listen to his music. Young Man Running is awesome. Songs like Spot..Coalmine, Lone Wolf and others keep you moving and grooving to the music. Corey puts emotion and meaning to his music. He has made many life long fans ( me and others also out there) through his music.

Corey Hart made his splash onto the music scene in 1984 with the charismatic hit "Sunglasses At Night" and followed it the next year with his biggest single, the inspirational ballad "Never Surrender." He continued to rack up several other minor chart singles including "It Ain't Enough," "I Am By Your Side," and "Everything in My Heart." By the time of his fourth album, "Young Man Running," Corey's popularity in the U.S. had started to wane. And that's too bad, because the result is that many missed out on what I think is Hart's best. The only single to chart in the U.S. was "In Your Soul," which peaked at #38.

As much as I like "In Your Soul," there are several other singles that I find even more enjoyable: "Chase the Sun" and "Still in Love" are great ballads; "Spot You in a Coalmine" and "Chippin' Away" are fun and upbeat; and "Truth Will Set You Free" is my favorite, a meditative and inspirational plea in which Hart's soulful vocals are delivered with such passion that you really feel what he intends. Too bad this was never released; I think it could have done well.

I highly recommend this CD to anyone. A good mix from a worthy, underappreciated artist.
