5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly amazing! May 15, 2012
By S. Cook
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
Let me start by saying I've never listened to anything by Tennis prior to buying this album. Never even heard of them, to be honest. Every month, I dredge my way through the 100 albums for $5 Amazon lists every month, trying out different artists like clothes to find something I like. This album is one I'm glad to have found in the list!

The singer & instrumentals blend together some truly hypnotizing songs, all different but cohesive as an album. Some personal stand outs include Origins, Travelling, Petition, Take Me to Heaven, and Deep in the Woods. That's not to say the rest are filler (spoiler: they're not). The lyrics for many of the songs, while they could easily be fluff and I wouldn't complain (which goes to show how amazing the singer & band is), are compelling and thought provoking.

This album makes me want to drive to the beach in a convertible on a lone highway at dusk. Or rather, this album makes me think of things that make me happy... or something. All I know is, this is the best $5 I've spent in some time, and I will be following this band from here on out.

On the fence? Just buy it. I'll make no guarantees, but I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy the ride.

I listen to the Sklar Brothers' "Sklarbro Country" podcast, and they feature indie rock music from their personal collections between their comedy tales and sports talk. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars darn near the best album of 2012
Just some amazing pop music. Less surf-rock inspired than Cape Dory, still the same amount of quality. This band is gonna be huge.
