5.0 out of 5 stars This was a great help!!!!, January 11, 2002

This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
My daughter Laura was having problems in school. We had her tested and they said she needed to focus more. They suggested that we set aside a time to read together at home. We had not been doing that much. The cover to this book is so bright and colorful she went for it instantly! We thumbed through it and right there in the store, she tried reading the stories. I could see that they were simple enough for her but would also challenge her in her reading.

I can't say enough about this Young Reader's Bible. Laura has learned to love reading because of it. To me, that is a miracle because she was in danger of being held back before. These are familiar stories so they draw a child in. Even kids who have not gone to Sunday school before will find these stories exciting, and will want to read on. And the pictures are a BONUS.

I would recommend this book to anyone who asks about a children's Bible, and I have done so. It has been fun to see how many kids from church now pack their Young Reader's Bible with them. Buy this book. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Young Reader's Bible - Standard, June 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
I wanted a Bible story book for a 12 year old Chinese girl who has been in America only 8 months. When she arrived she knew very little or if any English.

I feel the book is very attractive with easy reading. I was drawn to the cover in comparison to other books I reviewed, in that the cover had adults and not only children.

The Bible stories are well chosen and which carries a historical thread throughout the book.

Earlier I sent her a more "primer" Bible story book which she told me she can now read.

I choose it because it is a Lovely Book.

I recently purchased this "Reader" Bible (it is FULL of easy to read Bible stories - from both the OT AND the NT!) for my 1st grade daughter. We are using it to accompany the homeschool curriculum we are currently implementing - My Father's World.

I think it is perfect for her reading level. I also appreciate the fact that it has a well-rounded coverage of both OT and NT.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Children's Bible We Have Found!, March 24, 2007

This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
We appreciate three things about this Bible. (1) The illustrations are not silly or too cartoonish. (2) The text is decent, meaning it is easy to read but not too far removed from the Word of God. (3) A significant scope of stories are included, not just the same old Noah's Ark and Jonah and the whale. You will get a sample of everything from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to the end of the New Testament era, including a very decent treatment of such Bible topics as creation and the crucifixion of Jesus (short but sober). This is no small challenge given the format of 70 stories (three double-sided pages each). We think they did a great job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for children's ministries, August 21, 2005
This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
This Bible is perfect for teaching in any children's ministry. The illustrations are bold and the writing is not dumbed down for small children. It also includes some stories that are hard to find in children's Bible picture books. It's a great addition to any children's library.

5.0 out of 5 stars 70 Bible stories with simple colorful illustrations on each page., January 6, 2008

1st grader enjoys this Bible Reader. Nice illustrations, simple yet colorful picture on each page with one story from the Bible for each 2 page spread. Words are easy to read. Stories are short & sweet.

Also enjoys Iva Hoff's Picture Bible - a comic style bible but words are more difficult for him.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Young Reader's Bible, January 23, 2012

This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
When deciding to purchase The Young Reader's Bible, I wanted something that my son could read independently, something that could boost his speed in reading, and something that didn't feel like a chore. Since purchasing The Young Reader's Bible his teachers have noticed an increase in his fluency and he come home opens his Young Reader and read the story for the day. This is a child that didn't like to read to a child that reads daily aloud and silently. GREAT BOOK! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars 6 year old loves the Word!!, April 27, 2011
I bought this for my 6 year old for Easter. He loves reading and he loves this bible. It's easy to for him to read and worded very well for his age to understand what he's reading. He keeps a little bookmark in it and he keeps showing me how much he's reading. He can't wait to finish it!! This is a great buy for early readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect kids Bible, March 30, 2011

This review is from: The Young Reader's Bible (Hardcover)
This Bible is awesome. My 10 year old daughter loves to read it. We haven't had it long and we're almost done with it. It has gotten her totally interested in the stories and helps her to understand them better. But one thing I wish was better is the length of the stories. Some of them feel like they stop suddenly, and could use some more explanation. The verses for the story are at the top of the page, so you can read the story in your adult Bible and explain it better after your child reads it in their Bible. But all in all, I am so thankful I found this Bible!
