5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
I always liked Turk but I was somewhat worried about this album. Most people think of Turk as the 4th Hot Boy and all things being considered he is probably the least popular Cash Money Artist. So I was worried that the Cash Money crew wouldnt put the effort into this album and it would be weak. I was very wrong. This is honestly a great album. Im not one of those...

Yeah I know that Turk ripped it on everybody else's album but why does this album blow. A couple of reasons. 1. Mannie Fresh's beats were repetitive on here 2. Turk doesnt sound as enthusiastic as he did on everybody else's album. 3. The weak guest spots from The Capos, Christina, Mickey and The Big Tymers dont help much matters either. 4. Its never a good thing when your...

Im not one of those people who gives every album 5 stars.... if I dont like an album I will be honest and tell you that, but this album is very good. Some of the skits on the album are pointless, but since only 4 of the 21 tracks are skits its not that big of a deal. My favorite songs on the album are "Its In Me" "Yes We Do (feat hot boys and mack 10)", "Untamed Guerilla", "What Would You Do", and "Freak Da Hoes (feat mannie fresh)". It does seem that Cash Money has expanded their roster though..... they now have the 2 Big Tymers (baby, fresh), the 4 Hot Boys (turk, wayne, juvey, bg), The r+b group "Official", Mack 10, a group called "the capos", an artist named Christina and an artist named Mickey. I dont know very much about The Capos, Mickey or Christina.... but we all know for a fact what the Big Tymers and Hot Boys can do, Mack 10 is a great addition to Cash Money and the group Official can sing just like 112 or jagged edge. But anyways, back to Turks album.... this album was a real pleasant suprise. Like I said earlier,,, a lot of people consider Turk the Worst of the Cash Money crew,,, but even if you are one of these people I think you should STILL check this album out. Its hot. As much as I loved Waynes new album I think the ONLY albums from the hot boys members that are better than Turks album are "400 degreez" and "chopper city in the ghetto"...... I like the g code, i like waynes albums, and I like all of bg's stuff,,,, but Turks album is the bomb! if you are looking for a comparison to other cash money albums well here it is... 1. "400 degreez" 2. "guerilla warefare" 3. "chopper city in ghetto" 4. "YOUNG AND THUGGIN" 5. "i got that work" 6. "lights out" 7. g code" 8. "block is hot" 9. "get it how u live" 10. "checkmate"...... BUY TURKS ALBUM!

Young & Thuggin is an absolutely awesome album. I hope radio/BET get behind Turk in the future. Turk managed to debut in the top 10 on the Billboard charts which shows how popular he has become despite lack of a mainstream push. Anyways-as far as the album--in a word, dope. Mannie Fresh is on top of his game. And I was skeptical about Cash Money adding new rappers to their roster but everyone comes off great. Also--the song Freak Da Hoes will be a huge hit if they release it. Anyways-the new Turk album is fire and Cash Money's future is brighter than ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, Turk has come, June 7, 2001

I have been waiting for this Cd to come out for about 2 or 3 years. Turk has always been my favorite Hot Boy, and I as kinda upset he didn't get to shine during CMR's "golden era." My worst nightmare waiting all this time for a wack discFortunatly, as this album proves, CMR may not be as popular as they once were, but thier music is getting better. Continuing the trend that began on BG's Checkmate, CMR has shifted the focus from hits and material lyrics to consistent albums with diversified subject matter. Whils songs like At the Same Time and All Night may not be the catchiest in the Cash Money catalouge, they are tight. Yuo can tell new Cash Money member Mack 10 had an influence on Truk, cause some of the beats here sound like they could be used on the westside. While Turk may not have the appeal of Juvenile or Wayne, or the ominous presence of BG, he is the best lyracist in Cash Money. He never tries to do to much. CMR is in ti for the long haul. while theirs no potential smash hits on this CD, the rookie Turk certiantly doesn't hurt Cash Money's credibility.

5.0 out of 5 stars They just can't go wrong..., June 6, 2001

If you're a fan of Cash Money, or even if you've bobbed your head to anything from Cash Money, go get this CD. Mannie Fresh is at the top of his game, and Turk is still that verbal arsenist he was on Get It How U Live!!

There's only one downfall, and that's the absence of my favorite rapper, Juvenile. But don't get me wrong, it doesn't take anything away from the CD. There are a couple new prospects appearing for the first time, and...well...they make up for his absence beautifully.

All the songs are good, but some of my favorites are #'s 2, 3, 5, 10, 12, 14, 19.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Album, February 14, 2004
This review is from: Young & Thuggin (Audio CD)
This album is straight FIRE!!!!!!!!! I cant believe that Cash Money Records only put out one album for Turk. He has so much talent. Turk is the second best CMR rapper next to B.G. in my opinion. There is not one song on this album that I do not like. Cop this album it is definately worth the money. I coped the 'Raw & Uncut' album as well and it's tight, but it is not as good as this one. I heard that Turk is going to go back to Cash Money like Juvenile did. Well, ever since tha Hot Boys broke up Cash Money has not been tha same. I hope that Turk can bring back tha heat that Cash Money had back in tha day and maybe even manage to pull out another classic album like this one. There were only two things that dissapointed me about this album. One, there were too many skits. Two, Juvenile is not featured on this CD. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about. Go get this CD. Peace.

4. Its never a good thing when your skits are more entertaining than your album. The Good: Yes We Do which features Lil Wayne, B.G. and Mack 10 is the best song on here. Untamed Guerrilla is another highlight as Turk brings it to you raw over a good beat by Fresh. Freak Da Hoes is Turk's version of Juvenile's Back That Azz Up and All Night is solid track as both Lil Wayne and Turk spit some hot bars over a fairly decent beat. Growing Up is cool plus all the skits with Mannie Fresh( Intro, Hatin' and Finna Records)are a riot as Mannie Fresh blasts every rapper that dissed Cash Money subliminally for their constant bling-bling talk. The Bad: Bout To Go Down is too bland to get into, Its In Me and At The Same Time are as tedious as it gets and the public service anouncement, Seattle Slew and Police skits are pointless. The Ugly: One Saturday Night is without a doubt the worst song on the album as everybody(including Mannie Fresh)sing through the whole track. Soldierette is hot garbage and anybody that can tell you that songs like Wanna Be Down, Trife Livin and Hallways & Cuts are hot, with a straight face, is somebody you need to run from! All three of those songs are awful and formulaic. Bottom Line: Turk's Young & Thuggin is one of the worst Cash Money releases since Project English. Repetitive beat, weak guest spots and Turk didnt sound as hungry as he did before this album. Big Tymers' Hood Rich is the worst Cash Money release still.

WE ALL KNOW THAT TURK IS NOT CMR'S BEST RAPPER, BUT THIS ALBUM IS STILL BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. TURK IS A NECESSITY OF CMR BECAUSE OF HIS STYLE AND HIS FLOW. HE JUST FITS IN WITH THEM. HE SOUNDS THE BEST ON THE HOOKS IN MY OPINION. MANNIE DID A GREAT JOB ON THE TRACKS. I PERSONALLY LIKE "YES WE DO" CUZ WAYNE RIPS IT AND "FREAK DA HOEZ" BECAUSE THE TRACK IS LOVELY.
