Ahhh! It fills a great void!,

This review is from: Young Women of Faith Bible (NIV) (Hardcover)
My middle girl is in those niggling pre-teen years and she is a smart, discerning, inquisitive girl. Her New Adventure bible is terrific in many ways and could indeed serve her for some time to come. In fact, we weren't looking for a new bible, because she has such a good, age appropriate one. But its funny how the Lord works in mysterious ways.I own a Woman of Faith bible and it has brightened my world (no, I haven't been to a WOF conference; they haven't hit my neck of the woods yet). Its a study bible, in a mega-boosted devotional bible sort of way. I cannot praise it enough, and I am always sticking my nose it in. Well, so has this particular daughter (I think the schnazzy purple did her in). Lo and behold, this Young Women of Faith bible came on the market. Its weekly study themes directly coincide with my bible! And, the little butterfly icons throughout her bible means that it's particular annotation of a passage coincides with the same annotation in my bible. Of course, its not a word for word, but a paraphrased annotation, distilled for a young girl. The best thing about these bibles (both mom's and daughter's): its heavy on the joyful message of the Lord verus the fire/brimstone fearing of the Lord. This so soothes the soul, because we want for our sources to inspire us to love the Lord, not oblige our souls to Him for fear of Hell. These are happy, meaty, joyful, encouraging bibles. Finally, we can read, study, compare, and do devotionals together. The family that prays together, stays together. It is another tool to role model good womanly behavior. Both bibles do much to clarify cultural contexts of women in that time, which helps disassociate from any erroneous conclusion that women be subservient today. That is important in raising strong women, rooted in their faith and capable in this era. Now, if there were only a little Promise Keeper's bible for my son for bonding with his father and our Father....c'mon, Zondervan!

I bought this Bible for my girls who are 7 and 11. We bought the periwinkle purple leatherette one. Everything about this Bible is purple! Not only is the cover periwinkle purle, but the edges of the pages are lavender too! Inside there are highlights in pink (very girly) . There are memory verses writen in bigger letters in pink. Weekly journal entries, and one of my favorite features is that the weekly themes are the same as the Adult Women of Faith Bible, so Mom and daughter can both study the same topic. The Adult Women of Faith Bible topics just go into more dept. The devotions are very age appropiate and deal with being kind to your siblings, family and others. Different definitions are explained in pink. Wherever you see the pink butterfly that means the topic is linked to the Women of Faith Bible for adults. Side notes explain scripture. NIV. My girls liked their new girly Bibles so much, they even took their Bibles to bed with them the first day they had then!

HURRAY!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Young Women of Faith Bible (NIV) (Hardcover)
I just got this bible today, and am I ever so happy! I flipped through it and it seems so cool. My friend at church said it's a very good bible, and I belive her. My other Bible was a KJV Bible and it was all in this weird old english. NIV is easier to understand. I am going to save this Bible and give it to my daughter when I grow up. Maybe I can persuade my mom to buy the Women of faith bible:) That would be perfect. Peoples, I just gotta say this is a good bible, no, great.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Young Women of Faith Bible (NIV) (Hardcover)
This version of bible is easy to understand. It's told in a way that suits the age group it's designated for. Some other bibles I've tried reading are complicated, but this one is interesting, and teaches at the same time. My friend got one for her birthday, and once I picked it up, I couldn't put it back down! I haven't had the chance to get mine yet, but I will...soon.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Young Women of Faith Bible (NIV) (Hardcover)
I have had this bible for about six months, and I truly love it. It's all pink and purple, with informative and witty side information. All else is regular NIV text, with the footnotes too. I'm glad my Dad bought it for me, and it has helped me become a better christian. I definitely recommend buying this awesome bible!

I purchased this bible for my daughter on her 8th birthday. There are many great features like journal topics, memory verses, a short introduction to each book, and side notes with insights to bible terms or people the girls might not be familiar with to help their understanding of why what's being said is significant (What is a fig?, What is a cistern?, The Most Holy Place, Justification).
There is a weekly study index with 52 studies: "I'm becoming a woman of faith." Each study is broken into three parts. 1. Introduction to the topic. Includes questions to ask yourself to see if you are growing in this area. 2. Read about it. This gives at least one other place to turn in the bible to read a story that helps you understand the topic more. 3. Experience it. Now you apply it to your life. If you own the Women of Faith bible, these studies are linked. There is a small illustration of a cute girl on each study page. There is also a Dictionary of Terms. What I would like to see changed is simple: put the words of Jesus in red. It would also be great if they marked Old Testament prophecies of Jesus. (This is why I don't give it five stars) The bible is written in a more of a story format (paragraphs). This makes it easy to read through (and probably more appropriate for a younger girl). Each chapter number is highlighted with a hot pink circle. The recommended age group is 9-12, but it could certainly be used for a younger child. My 6 year old can read it with minor difficulty, and she understands the concepts. My daughter and I are both delighted with this bible. I'm a stickler for KJV, but wanted something that would be easier for her to understand and make her hungry to read more. This bible has done it. We enjoy reading out of both our translations and discussing. I would highly recommend this bible!

My daughter gets much use out of this and she does not have a hard time understanding it as she has with past Bibles. Highly recommended.

I purchased several of these biblesYoung Women of Faith Bible (NIV) as gifts for a group of inner city girls I am ministering to. These are awesome Bibles for young girls/women. They have gone from the "dread" of reading the Bible to looking forward to it. This helps to make the Bible relative to their lives today. It is beautifully packaged and includes notes that relate to them well. A beautiful Bible.
