5.0 out of 5 stars Real-Life Adventure - Not Just Another Travel Book, July 16, 2009
This review is from: On Younghusbands Path (Paperback)
Tom Broadbent is the real deal - a modern-day adventurer. He does what many talk about but never actually do. Giving up his career as an auditor, he sets off on the road with £10 sponsorship in his pocket and very little preparation. In a journey fraught with danger, Tom escapes rape in the Karakoram tribal areas where Osama Bin Laden hides. He nearly dies in a riverbank landslide, survives dog bites and rabies injections, falls down one mountain pass and almost freezes on another.

He walks through forbidden zones, bends rules, and battles with officials to gain insights into a country rarely glimpsed by outsiders. When placed

under house arrest, he sits for days through a kangaroo court.

Tom has guts and attitude - but more importantly, he can WRITE and entertain! This is a 'must have' travel book!
