5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read!! June 12, 2007
Format:Paperback
I recently graduated from the University of Georgia and have, in turn, become financially independent from my parents. While school has taught me a great deal about English, math, science, and history, it has not prepared me for the real world. This book has given me more practical advice than my entire 17 years of schooling. Before reading this book, I was clueless about money (except how to spend it). Now, I am provided with a complete financial map for my future. The layout and straightforward wording of this book makes for an easy and truly enjoyable read. It is organized so well in fact, that after reading it I can easily return to any section when needed, in order to refresh my memory (perhaps about Roth IRA's, a term I was unfamiliar with before reading this book).

I have no doubt that I am well on my way to financial success by simply following all of the advice laid out in "Get Your Assets in Gear! Smart Money Strategies" by Jan Dahlin Geiger. This book is the PERFECT graduation gift and I recommend it to everyone 16 and older. I believe so strongly in everything that is taught within the pages of this book that I challenge anyone to read it and not be thrilled that they did. In addition to teaching me everything I need to know about succeeding financially, this book has taught me a great deal about succeeding in life. Although the book can be bought at a reasonable price, the information and advice that it provides is priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where was this book when I was 18! August 14, 2007
By Judy K
Format:Paperback
Wow! Jan Geiger is like the wise aunt, directing you down the right path, all the while letting you think it was your idea! This book was a gift, and I was expecting a mind-numbing lecture demonstrating that I could make a million dollars if only I could survive until I reached age 112. I couldn't have been more wrong! Once I started reading, I couldn't put down the book!

I love the real world examples, the workable spending plan (Note: NOT a budget!) and the summaries of achievable step-by-step actions I need to take on my road to riches. Jan explains not only what, but why, and she shows me that even I can have it all. It's like getting a pep talk from your best friend.

A month ago my goal was simple financial security. Now I want financial freedom--for myself, my family, and my friends. The author mentions a desire to be interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, to help get the word out to young people that they can be rich too if they start early and follow a few easy steps. I hope she gets that interview. Oprah would approve of Jan's selfless use of her riches.

This book is perfect for high school and college students, now, before they get into financial trouble. My daughter already has her own copy of this distinguished work. To my nieces and nephews in college--guess what you'll be getting for your next birthdays! To the author--thanks for lighting a fire under my assets!

When I put this book down I looked up and shouted, "YEEEESSSSS!" Finally, I have a book on investing and asset allocation that I can recomend to my clients. I enjoyed laughing with Jan as she described her passion to become wealthy along with the many stories she told you about her journey. The fact that she assists others now as her vocation is a brilliant attribute to the data in her book.

I always perfer to have an author tell me about their personal journey to weath and Jan does this in a very easy to read format without the jargon the financial industry uses that confuses me. This is book that is a must read, but also implement what Jan tells you. Don't just read the book and put it down. Do it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Money Mangement Book EVER! July 15, 2007
Format:Paperback
As a small business consultant, I work with struggling entrepreneurs. More often than not, poor money management is what keeps these business owners from achieving their goals. If only they had read Jan Geiger's "Get Your Assets in Gear!"... This book is so absorbing and chock full that I read it in one sitting. I plan to give it to every young person I know to help them along their path to financial independence.

"Get Your Assets in Gear!" is for anyone you cherish. Its simple wisdom and "how to" approach is a gift that will last a lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Suzie Orman October 23, 2007
Format:Paperback
The author has written a very engaging understandable book that would be useful to any person young or old who wants to get ahead financially. Her stories and strong emotional conviction make a compelling case for facing up to one's financial challenges and she tells you how to overcome them. I also like her emphases on the power of thoughts. This makes a great reference book and deserves to be read over and over again. In this book, I felt like she was standing beside me saying you can do this; it's easier than you think and here is how. The book leaves one feeling more hopeful and knowledgeable about money.
