5.0 out of 5 stars Ouch
Brother has become one of the most exciting performers that I have ever seen. Their live chemistry can be felt in every studio venture that they've produced to date. 3.0 out of 5 stars Still there, but I miss Fergus
A good step in a slightly new direction for the band. The energy is a bit more restrained for some new experimentation with sounds & drum loops. The arraingements are stretched a little, but without abandoning their celtic influences. The songs are a bit stronger this time out. Personal favs are "Stand Beside Me", "2 Chairs & One Tree" and...

5.0 out of 5 stars bROthER rocks!, July 21, 1999

I stumbled upon these guys at the Texas Scottish Festival while I was waiting to see Seven Nations and was immediately obsessed. I bought this album and have listened to it every day since then. They've got a great sound that's so sharp and original...and they've got such cute butts underneath those kilts! :-)

The newest from Brother, Your Backyard, shows extreme growth from previous albums. More introspective and low key than other offerings it has it's own unique characteristics. A prime example of the flexibility of the artists. (A little more mellow than I would have liked, but a great title to add to your collection none the less.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Celtic Rock Fusion, July 22, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Your Backyard (Audio CD)
No one has mentioned the last track on the CD, "thetimeisnow"--wonderful!! Even for people who do not usually like bagpipes, this one gets 'em. I, too, fell in love with the music at the Texas Scottish Festival. I heard the didgiridoo from across the stadium and followed that wonderful thrumming sound over to their tent. The CD doesn't quite convey all the energy of a live performance, but this track has lured a large number of people; I drag anyone who hasn't heard it to the CD player, and if they like any variety in their music, this one sells them on Celtic rock. I have two friends who have choreographed a Middle Eastern Dance number to it. Might I also mention "Romp & Circumstance" from the 'Pipe Dreams' CD? Rousing, energetic, FUN!

Ive been following this band since 1994 and I feel this is the strongest album yet. It's their first record since Bur left, and I find it remarkable that it that the remaining brothers could regroup and produce such a phenomonal record. Definently a "must have" for celtic music fans. Don't miss "Purle haze", and "Sooner or later"

Once again Brother has not failed to turn out another awsome cd. This cd as the others has proven to be just as unique and cutting edge. Their ethnic beat and cultural tunes make this album one of the best.

Brother's music is always new, fresh and unique. Their music is a sexy, heady blend of traditional rock and roll and wierd, unusual native instruments. But the blend is so natural as to be nearly organic, alive and bursting with energy. Listening to them you can hardly keep still, you are moved... transported to a world that is on the edge of the wild... just listen...

5.0 out of 5 stars AWSOME, May 13, 2001

Brother's music is always awsome, but so far this CD is some of their best work. I've seen them perform live many times - they are the greatest group of guys you want to meet - they give every ounce and then some! When I first heard the music from this album I dispaired that the CD would not match the electricity of the live versions, but I was wrong - it comes very close to the excitement that they generate on stage. Keep going guys!
