I am really enjoying this book; it has lots of good common sense advice in an accessible format.

This book is more than a bunch of exercises. In fact, if that is what you want, you can find better books out there. For me, this book supplements exercise books I already have (not to mention tons of exercise information available to anyone online).

A couple of things that could be better - there are decent recipes, but a grocery list would have been nice so I wouldn't have to write things down and see how much of what I needed by doing calculations of combining ingredients. Also, the exercises are adequate, but some I will not do in a gym setting or I...

I am really enjoying this book; it has lots of good common sense advice in an accessible format.

This book is more than a bunch of exercises. In fact, if that is what you want, you can find better books out there. For me, this book supplements exercise books I already have (not to mention tons of exercise information available to anyone online).

It covers a lot of general health related topics for men over 40 including diet, nutrition, stress, health checks, etc. It is well-written, concise, and easy to read. I like how the author provides information from studies to support many of the suggestions (granted, this is not a textbook nor a peer-reviewed scientific publication, so don't expect anything real well-documented. It would be easy enough to follow up on anything that didn't seem right).

I was skeptical and picked up my copy at the library, but I think I will purchase a copy to keep.

Bottom line: working out and eating the same way I did in my 20s no longer works for me. I am tired of trying to do my old freeweight workouts only to get injuries and still have a gut. Things change as you get older, and the sooner you realize what those changes are, the sooner you can move forward.

Very detailed coverage of all aspects of men's health, and exercises that the over 40 man can do without too much pain!! Who would of thought of adding recipes, but it helps tremendously. Plus the helpful facts on food, portion sizes, etc. really makes following this plan very do-able, and fun!

I had the chance to read this book while on vacation. It reinforces everything my doctor, trainer, and nutritionist have told me over the years, and made me more keenly aware of the need to maintain your body as we age. Very well laid out, not too technical so even novices can understand. Enjoyed and am already using.

For someone at the heels of turning 40, who regularly works out and has experienced various injuries - this book is great. I have discovered that this book really helps to target areas that we begin to take for granted as we age. Not only does it target various muscle groups, but it also helps to identify exercises and drills that help to minimize strain on important areas that we may take for granted in our teens and 20's - the knees and back.

If you think that this book is all about exercise, it is not. It also provides various nutritional tips, coping with stress and the importance of getting rest.

There have been several people that I have referred this book and they have enjoyed it. The most important thing is putting various concepts to practice. Even if you initially are unable to perform various exercises, don't become discouraged. There are other substitutes that you can perform - and the book even addresses this.

I have not tried the various recipes yet; however, one book that is a good recipe supplement is the "Mastering Your Metabolism Cookbook".

So, if you are soon-to-be 40, 40-something or 40+ this is a good book for you. Even if you simply use it as a supplement to another book, it is a good resource to have in your library. The most important thing is using various principles - not letting the book sit and collect dust.

This has something like 900 exercises that you can do at home alone with no equipment, with equipment, at a gym, with a ball, free weights, etc. etc. etc. This is the best. Only complaint is that it could give a better description of exactly what each exercise does, but it is definitely worth the money.

Also, the exercises are adequate, but some I will not do in a gym setting or I would look pretty silly (jumping on benches, jumping in place, etc.) All in all, the Belly Off diet had better diet plans and recipes, and a grocery list, and the Abs Diet has better exercises for busy people (circuits).

This is a good informative book. I should know better than to keep buying books in hopes of finding the magic bullet. I just don't feel that it really enlightened me to anything that I did not really know already. I am a Men's Health subscription holder and keep pretty apprised to latest health news. There is not a substitution for healthy eating and a consistent work out plan.

Content is very good. Well thought-out, relevant, not to much detail.
It's well written. Easy to break into chunks to read, logical layout of sections.
the exercises and other content (quick & easy recipes, etc) are explained and illustrated.
For obvious reasons, it feels like a Men's Health product, i.e. the right sort of content to appeal to the MH reader, with anecdotes & vignettes to reinforce that it's all achievable by normal people.
