5.0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing Read!!, January 24, 2009
This review is from: Your Big Fat Boyfriend (Paperback)
I was very happy to discover that this was not your "average diet book". Definitely no rigid diet guidelines to follow here. Instead of telling you to replace foods with lowfat-chemical-filled versions, Bergen offers healthier, happier advice to maintain your weight and self confidence while in a relationship. I could totally relate to her dating/dieting woes! I can't wait to try out these tips so I can finally get back into my skinny jeans!

This book stands out from the others by how it's written. It's fun AND informative, which is a welcome change from having only one or the other. I really enjoyed the recipes and plan to use them now that my BF and I are both trying to drop a few pounds that we gained from constantly eating out at fast food restaurants. Thank you Jenna for this helpful and humorous book!

5.0 out of 5 stars a non-dieters diet book, January 24, 2009
By
This review is from: Your Big Fat Boyfriend (Paperback)
I have read a LOT of diet books that I can barely get through because they are so boring, just a lot of the same info repeated over and over. But this book is actually a good, funny read, and not inflated with a lot of other junk. I related to the author' situation--my boyfriend (now husband) and his entire family had really poor eating habits and I gained weight throughout our relationship as I picked up their bad habits. It is nice knowing that I am not alone, and the advice in this book is practical, stuff I can really use. It has already inspired me to lose two pounds and cook better meals for my stepdaughter. This is the kind of diet book we need more of--one that focuses on health, and actually works. Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and informative!, January 28, 2009
This review is from: Your Big Fat Boyfriend (Paperback)
Jenna Bergen does a great job of keeping readers entertained while giving helpful advice. The book reads like a story to keep the pages turning while giving female readers help with tricky dating/food situations she will likely encounter. Ladies--we have definitely all been there! You can compete with your boyfriend in many things--but an eating contest is not one of them (or shouldnt be!). Not your typical diet book, this is a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff!, January 25, 2009
By
This review is from: Your Big Fat Boyfriend (Paperback)
I'm not one for diet books, but I was pleasantly surprised to find "Your Big Fat Boyfriend" humorous as well as helpful. It really opened my eyes to the sort of health traps we fall into when dating. Just last weekend I spent the day with a guy I recently started dating and we bought food I never would have bought had I been by myself. This book gave me the perspective I needed to make my own healthy choices and still have a good time.

This fun book is a great read for singles but also applies to us married gals! How many of us have packed on 20 or even 30 or more pounds in a comfortable, stable relationship? Jenna Bergen has some important advice given in a humorous way to remind us that we are all the keepers of our own health, that as women we simply cannot eat like men.

Fun, cleverly written, this book is full of great tips! A perfect mix of the authors own hilarious experiences and research-based information. This book helped me to reexamine my own relationship with food and provided great advice on how to adopt new, healthier strategies for me and my "big fat boyfriend."

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick read, helpful tips!, November 9, 2009
By
This review is from: Your Big Fat Boyfriend (Paperback)
It took me about 3 days to get through this book! It was super creative and pretty witty. There were a lot of tips in her book that have been heard/used before but there were some new things that have definitely helped! One tip that I've used already is going out to a restaurant with your BFB dressed up. I never thought that looking good at a restaurant would help you stop shoving french fries in your face. It really is helpful.
