5.0 out of 5 stars Invaluable resource
This is an invaluable resource for patients, OBs, and especially REs. If you've suffered just one m/c, do not blindly accept your OB's advice to simply try again w/o doing any research. After giving birth to a healthy boy, I had my 1st m/c at age 33. My OB told me to try again. After all, it worked the 1st time with the birth of my son. So, we tried and tried and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good info for specific needs
It's a great book. It helped in understanding some very specific immune issues that my doctor described. I wish it had gone into a little bit more of how the body works and the steps it goes through while creating a baby, but that's not really what it's for. It's for explaining infertility issues and that is precisely what it does. The book was definitely helpful in...

So, we tried and tried and tried. After 3 m/cs, we finally met Dr. Beer, who saw red flags in my immune system. One year later, I was holding my miracle baby girl in my arms at the hospital. Dr. Beer explains a very difficult science in language we can all understand and has helped countless couples complete their families after suffering many tragic losses and being unsuccessfully treated (not to mention financially and emotionally drained) by REs. If only immune testing were routinely performed on all couples seeking help by REs. . . This book is groundbreaking and highly recommended. Thank you to Dr. Beer for dedicating his life to the science of Reproductive Immunology and for sharing his science with us through this book and his medical practice.

After 5 miscarriages and trying practically everything including lots of "normal" blood tests, we finally saw Dr. Beer. We followed his plan, and the next try resulted in our now 17 month old little girl. We have a little boy on the way in one more month, again thanks to Dr. Beer. A friend of mine had a little boy without issue. Then, when trying to get pregnant again, she had 5 IVF failures before going to see Dr. Beer. She did his tests, followed his plan, and the next try was pregnant with her little girl. If you, your friends, or your loved ones are fighting infertility and/or miscarriages, do yourself (or them) a huge favor and start with this book unless you want to go straight to his practice (now taken over by Dr. Stricker but still great). It doesn't have to be so hard! We are forever indebted to Dr. Beer!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loss after Loss for a "Real reason"., October 15, 2006
This review is from: Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained (Paperback)
Through being a real patient of Dr. Alan E. Beer, I have learned to take control over my own medical needs and to not accept unexplained infertility and multiple miscarriages on just bad luck. In reading this book you will see how Dr. Beer had devoted his whole life to helping women like ourselves. He gives you rational explanations and lays out the treatment plan for you. He has helped thousands upon thousands of patients who previously had been given no hope, to receive the precious gift of Parenthood. If you know of a friend, sister or co-worker going through such pain and sorrow; this book is for her. This book has many real stories from real people as myself. Please help educate your special friend and or doctor, so others will not have to face such sorrow again. This book has the diagnosis, treatment and the resources needed to begin. It's a must have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr Beer was brilliant!, June 19, 2007
This review is from: Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained (Paperback)
If you have recurrent pregnancy loss that is unexplained or if you have unexplained infertility, you need this book! After having SEVEN second trimester stillbirths and 3 early miscarriages, I have a 4 year old son and an 8 month old daughter. I went from doctor to doctor, from OB to REs, from the local hospital to the Cleveland Clinic and was told that nothing could be found and I wouldn't be able to deliver a live baby. Out of desperation, I searched the internet and found Dr Beer. We decided to try his treatments. It didn't work for me at first, but Dr Beer refused to give up and he contined to give me hope. This man was on a mission and that mission will continue with this book. Dr Beer is able to explain his theories in ways the average person can understand and this is a book that you can take to your doctor. Don't give up until you've read this book.

After 5 miscarriages, several rounds of traditional infertility tests and countless shead tears, I had the good fortune to meet Dr Beer via email. Over the course of 3 days and a few simple blood tests, he correctly diagnosed my infertility issues which subsequently lead to the birth of my 3 beautiful Beer-Babies.

When my daughter was 5 weeks old, we got to meet Dr Beer and I can honestly say he was one of the kindest, most understanding, unselfish people I've ever met. Digest the book, then keep searching until you find a doctor who will embrace the material presented here. God Bless.

Dr. Beer has hit the nail on the head. I had 6 miscarriages and then found Dr. Beer. His methods work, I now have 3 beautiful boys. Thanks to my RE and OB here and Michigan they worked hand in hand with him and after 8 years of miscarriages we now have completed our family. This book is wonderful, show it to your RE. Just a side note, Dr. Alan Beer passed away on May 1, 2006. We was a wonderful man and thanks to his research I have a wonderdful life with my family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally some answers!, July 11, 2007
This review is from: Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained (Paperback)
This book was extremely helpful! I read it cover to cover in a matter of days. Dr. Beer et al have certainly made it easy to understand and explain reasons for unexplained infertility and loss. I would recommend this book to anyone who has suffered through either infertility and/or recurrent miscarriages. In the reference section it lists the clinics which provide the type of care he discusses. I made an appt immediately with Dr. Kwak as she is the closest to our home. She is a gift to work with!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hope for families without answers, June 27, 2007
By
This review is from: Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained (Paperback)
Miscarriage is tragic. Add to that doctors who often have no answers, and parents can feel hopeless after repeated loss. This book provides answers for why losses occur, and how future losses can be prevented. Many of the treatments discussed are outside of mainstream care guidleines- but these are the same old sets of rules that leave so many families without answers. Dr. Beer does a great job explaining his treatments, and any woman who still wonders why she lost multiple pregnancies should read this book. I lost four children before finally being diagnosed with two treatable conditions. It's because of people like Dr. Beer that women like me can end up having our families.

5.0 out of 5 stars A baby is almost guaranteed if you read this book, December 2, 2007

This review is from: Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained (Paperback)
If your best friend was a book it would be this one. Dr Beer describes in easy to understand words how the immune system can go into overkill in some women. The result is miscarriage, IVF failure and infertility. But these outcomes can be prevented with the right tests and treatments. I read this book and found it technical when necessary but with lots of human interest stories and studies to back everything up. The authors did a good job making this book accessible to ordinary women and also credible for when they take it to show their doctors. It is not dry like the other reviewer said, it is factual and makes a complex subject understandable. The book is ahead of its time and will make infertility and miscarriage a far less frequent event if only it was more widely known to the medical profession. I had twins as a result of Dr Beer's treatments. I wasted many years and many $s consulting with narrow minded doctors before finding him. I recommend this book with all my heart to all those women who were once suffering like I was. The tests and treatments are out there and this book tells you where to find them.

I'll keep this brief: After 5 miscarriages and no issues found by a number of OB/gyns and RE's I found the Beer Center. Fast forward 2 years later and my healthy daughter was born. Immune issues may be rare, but for women who have them, getting them under control is the only way to get through a pregnancy and it is simply a crime that many OB's are not believers of these issues as I am sure there are many couples out there who have given up when they could have been treated. I hope when my daughter decides she would like to have a child these tests and treatments are mainstream so no one needs to go through recurrent pregnancy loss and secondary infertility.
