5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Useful Book I Have Read in Years!
After taking 7 years off to raise my two children, the thought of returning to the work world was at the very least daunting!
I read this book and was truly inspired. It was the most useful book I have read in years. It is designed to be informative but it also has the benefits of being a workbook that give you significant tools for your launch back into the world...

1.0 out of 5 stars RIP OFF!!!
This is the absolute worst book that I have ever purchased. I have never felt so ripped off! Literally 25 pages of the small book (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") are blank or have striped lines down the entire length of the page. Most of the rest of the pages fill from a quarter to a half of the page and they provide room for "Notes". When there are words they provide a half a page...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Useful Book I Have Read in Years!, August 5, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
After taking 7 years off to raise my two children, the thought of returning to the work world was at the very least daunting!
I read this book and was truly inspired. It was the most useful book I have read in years. It is designed to be informative but it also has the benefits of being a workbook that give you significant tools for your launch back into the world of paid work! I found it to be extremely positive and motivational and at the same time highly practical.
I was able to zip right through it and now use it on a regular basis to aid my daily efforts in finding work that is just right for my lifestyle.
I felt a bit timid about on ramping...but now with the help of this great book, I feel a great amount of courage! Well worth the purchase! It is one that I won't lend out, will refer back to it often!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small book, big impact, November 3, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
This is a small book chocked full of information, exercises and encouragment for professional women returning to the workforce after taking timeo off to stay home with their kids. As a mother myself, I like that is clearly written, succinct and gets right to the point. The authors clearly understand their audience.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent resource!, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
One of the hardest things for moms today is to make that choice to jump back into the workforce. It can be so scary and challenging! This book makes the idea of going back to work approachable and helps you lay out a plan that feels actionable. Through self assessments, it allows you to really figure out what job is right for you-- then helps you build your resume and set concrete goals.
A must for all moms considering heading back in the working world!

1.0 out of 5 stars RIP OFF!!!, October 9, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
This is the absolute worst book that I have ever purchased. I have never felt so ripped off! Literally 25 pages of the small book (5 1/2" x 8 1/2") are blank or have striped lines down the entire length of the page. Most of the rest of the pages fill from a quarter to a half of the page and they provide room for "Notes". When there are words they provide a half a page to provide "Exercises" such as "Given what I know about myself...What do I want to accomplish in life?" and of course a huge blank area left to answer...it's so insulting----you can use a tablet of paper to answer the questions!
It is as if they took a Power Point presentation and printed it out as a "book". PLEASE do not spend your hard earned money on this supposed "book"! These "authors" should be ashamed of themselves.

This is a fantastic book for anyone who is looking to enter or re-enter the workforce. It is full of practical ideas, not just for networking and finding the right career / position, but also for making room in one's life for the changes that will be involved. Written by women who clearly understand what it is like and who have done quite a bit of research to come up with loads of great, practical, inspiring ideas for action, I highly recommend this book.

This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
A great resource for anyone that is thinking about re-entering the workforce, seeking flexibility or part time opportunities. This book focuses on the professional individual that is looking for a substantive opportunity.

Guys, do not let the title disuade you from picking up this handy guide. The topics discussed and how they are presented are concise and yet thorough and great for anyone that finds themselves re-entering the workforce or with gaps.

With the sea of guides out there, it is nice to know that this one has great elements. If you carve out the time in your life to follow the steps and complete the worksheets you will have the strategies you need to go after the positions you desire.

5.0 out of 5 stars A hug, a push and a bargain!, May 31, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)
Your Career OnRamp is a friendly, practical and economical "welcome back" to the professional world. The authors have distilled the best insights from the top business school onramp programs and from the top career coaches...what fun and what a bargain! I really like the first chapter, "Are you ready?" because it helps build the right foundation for any mom's onramp. I use this book in parallel with the website ([...]) and it keeps me inspired, supported and moving forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Career OnRamp, May 6, 2008
This review is from: Your Career OnRamp (Paperback)

This book is a very helpful source of information and advice about how to get back into the workforce after taking a few years off. Unlike a lot of job-finding materials, it's specifically tailored to smart, accomplished women who are trying to balance motherhood and family obligations with the prospect to going back to a full or part-time career. The information and ideas are of a high enough level to actually be helpful to women with college or advanced degrees, but they are presented in such a conversational and simple way. I have a law degree, but never would have even thought of some of the ways they presented to consider future business and career opportunities. The book gives great ideas for networking and getting up to speed in your field, as well as for identifying your specific skills so you can find a new path. Really helps you focus on what you want, and provides a great road map of how to get there.

I really enjoyed this book. As a mom of 2, I wasn't sure about even where to start when thinking about going back to work (or how to make time for it. I particularly liked the exercises and goal-setting -- so far it is helping me to really figure out what I want to do with myself now that my kids are getting a little older.
