5.0 out of 5 stars Complete coverage of the C128's usage and BASIC programming, February 19, 2005
This review is from: Your Commodore 128: A guide to the Commodore 128 computer (Paperback)
This is a complete 525+ page book that covers the C128 in its entirety.

It has 10 chapters and 6 appendixes full of information, with many sample programs.

Chapters:

1 - Introducing the Commodore 128 Computer - Computer components, ports, keyboard, function keys, how to connect and operate peripherals
2 - Operating the C-128 - All about editing, deleting, inserting, backspacing, immediate mode, how to load, run a program, format diskettes, etc.
3 - Programming the C-128 - Explains BASIC commands, reserved words, loops, subroutines, arrays, etc.
4 - Advanced BASIC Programming - To reinforce previous chapter coverage on BASIC
5 - Game Controllers - Keyboard, Joystick and Paddle programming
6 - Graphics - A thorough coverage of the VIC-II chip, sprites, and hi-res graphics
7 - Sound - A detailed explanation of the SID chip capabilities using the C128
8 - Peripheral Devices - How to perform peripheral operations on devices, coverage of sequential and random-access processing, and advanced disk-utility commands (memory-read, user commands U1-U9), modems, MPS803 printer
9 - Machine Language Programming - It is more of a guide to the monitor and assembler, not exactly an ML tutorial.
10 - Using CP/M - One of the few books with such authoritative coverage of this Operating System

Appendixes:
A - Memory Usage - It gives the most important memory locations and their purpose
B - C-128 I/O Pinouts - Detailed schematics of all I/O connectors
C - Conversion Tables, Trigonometric Functions - Hex, dec, integer conversion tables
D - Sound and Display Characters and Codes - character codes, screen POKE values and sound register equivalents
E - BASIC Statements - Syntax of all C128 BASIC statements
F - BASIC Functions - All of the C128 BASIC numerical and string functions

The book also covers the operation of the Datassette, the 1541 and 1571 drives, the MPS 803 printer, modems, you name it.
Everything is explained in C64 and C128 modes for comparison purposes since the C64 is also part of the C128 system.

You want an all inclusive book on the C128? Look nowhere else.
I'm glad I own one copy.
