Kevin Yee worked for 15 years at Disneyland in a variety of roles (restaurant lower management, entertainment) and has written regularly about Disney theme parks since 1997 on Web sites, magazine articles, and blogs. He lives in Orlando, where he visits the Disney parks twice a week with his family.
I'm one of those Disney people - you know the type - I go to the park too much, collect disney books, even got married there. I have a couple of Kevin Yee's other books & was excited to get this for my little girl because I loved the choose your own adventure type books as a kid. I still have the "Cinderella's Magic adventure" book that I took to the park with me when I was 5 years old & used as my character autograph book :)
Since there's no other reviews yet I'll write a little description:
-small hardcover book -63 story pages with a photo & short paragraph on each page -12 pages just photos
Picutre of Thunder Mountain "Wasn't that invigorating! Care to go again? But you're so close to another great thrill ride, Splash Mountain. Sometimes it's just so hard to decide what to do next! -If you are at least 40 inches tall and want to ride Splash Mountain, turn to page 15. -Otherwise, return to the plaza at the middle of the park so you can choose different rides. Turn to page 6.
One thing that was different than I expected is there are only a few sentances on each page. It's not 3 pages of reading, then a decision to make. There's a few sentances to read, then a decision to make on each page. I guessing most kids will like that though because there's 60 different things to choose from. You can go on all the rides, have a turkey leg, see a parade, etc. And you can read it over & over again finding different things.
Also different from the old school "choose your own" books, there are no bad endings. (Cinderella fell down the well again?? Are you kidding me?? Now we'll never make it to the ball...Sigh.Read more ›
