5.0 out of 5 stars As a Gift
Not knowing a thing about dreams or interpreting them, I blindly chose this book simply from its description. My daughter had requested such a book on her Christmas list and she tells me how much she likes it every time I talk to her. She says it is quite inclusive-she has not looked up anything that she has been unable to find. Apparently it is quite understandable...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was looking for
Unfortunatley, none of the key words I was looking for are in this book (ie ex-boyfriend, ex-friend, old-boyfriend, old-friend, exes, foreign country/countries, etc.) so I haven't been able to find any answers or amusement. This book is literally a dictionary with very brief answers and no scenarios.

Not knowing a thing about dreams or interpreting them, I blindly chose this book simply from its description. My daughter had requested such a book on her Christmas list and she tells me how much she likes it every time I talk to her. She says it is quite inclusive-she has not looked up anything that she has been unable to find. Apparently it is quite understandable and makes sense to her, offering numerous possibilities and isn't that what dreams are all about?

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, January 23, 2007

This is the most comprehensive dictionary of dream symbols that I have found....and I've looked through many books on dream symbology. After cross referencing some of the symbols with other books on the subject, in my opinion Mary Summer Rain offers the most intuitive interpretation of dream symbols. I always keep this book at the ready when awakening from the dream state in order to better understand not only the subconscious but also to guide me in the awakened state.

This is a fabulous dictionary of things that infiltrate our dreams !! The book captures so many wonderful insights and allows us to create our own interpetation of what the Universe has brought us in our sleep... The book is perfectly layed out and the definitions are easy to access. It feels like great love and passion have gone into the making of this book and I think all the world will feel this when they embark on this very intimate, revealing work of knowledge. Thanks Mary. I so appreciate your talents. This book is necessary in every library and for any soul who dreams....dreams....dreams.

I am new to dream interpritation. I decided to learn more about the method of understanding dreams after studying several of the techniquies used by Freud. This book provides a very easy to understand reference for the individual items in dreams. It still requires a small amount of know how to fully interprit dreams but it is a good start. Using this book in accordance with other "dream books" is very useful.

1.0 out of 5 stars In Your Dreams - apparently not mine...not at all what I was seeking, March 11, 2009

I purchased "In your Dreams" hoping to get answers to questions such as...why do I have dreams about my teeth falling out? Why do I have dreams that I lost my school schedule and have been missing classes for 3 months? I was figuring a 1 to 3 page chapter on various common dreams that people have. I looked up "teeth" in this book and the only thing it says is: "symbolize the manner of an individual's speech which reflects their inner personality". Huh? What? This book is literally a dictionary of words and single sentences of definitions. Not at all what I was hoping for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Vague and useless, October 2, 2008
This review is from: In Your Dreams: The Ultimate Dream Dictionary (Paperback)
This book offers no help in interpreting a dream. For instance unders "sister" it says "points to a close female relationship." So, what does that mean if I dream of my sister? Under cat it says "(domestic/wild) pertains to one's quality or type of independence. See specific type such as cheetah, Chesire, calico, etc." What about a mongrel cat? Again how does this description help me define my dream's meaning? I am extremely disappointed in this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment., November 11, 2008
This review is from: In Your Dreams: The Ultimate Dream Dictionary (Paperback)
I decided to purchase this book because some of the reviews of this book were pretty good. Unfortunately, I regret to state, I should of listened to the negative reviews for this particular book. I found this book to be lacking. I have been studying a dreams for many a year, but everything I find is either to be exactly of the definition of a word (such as a dictionary) or to be completely useless.

It's all in one's opinion though.
