4.0 out of 5 stars Swinging funky big beats, September 11, 2000

Second time around the block for midland (Birmingham?) boys Mike Stokes and Richard March, delivering the same loopy off the wall sound as their first effort. There's not much in the way of singles material here but that doesn't really matter because the entire album is greater than the sum of its parts - a real joy to listen to a group with an original sound in a genre full of copycats.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bentley Rhythm Ace - For Your Ears Only, February 22, 2011
This review is from: For Your Ears Only (Audio CD)
On their second album, For Your Ears Only, Bentley Rhythm Ace continue their streaking, fun big beat. The tracks here are quick and funky -- it's like the sonic equivalent of a 3 Musketeers bar: sweet and satisfying, but mostly filled with air. "Theme from `Gutbuster'" has a driving quality that just makes you want to boogie -- and this is true for almost all the tracks. "Do the Christmas Rush" sprinkles in some cheery synths to lighten the mood, but there's really nothing to distinguish the tracks from one another -- no catchy hooks or interesting samples. It's a pity, because their rhythmical abilities belie what this album could have been.

put the CD very on and dance Ask your girl/boyfriend to move their hips and raise them arms and pay no mind for the neighborhood Those guys are funny. Electronica need weirdos like them or Gonzales uber alles. not serious music for not serious people... they (and this gonzales too) will bring the fire in Saint Malo - la route du rock next 11 August. Collective funky histery in perspective...
