5.0 out of 5 stars Great : A George Benson R&B CD, July 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: In Your Eyes (Audio CD)
I think, that"In Your Eyes" is a masterful work. If you seperated his more "Instrumental" albums, from his "Vocal" ones this wouldn't have been the critical bomb it was. "Inside Love" is still as jammin' as it must have been in 1983, and the 2 instrumentals on the album are just as fresh as they were nearly 20 years ago. If you don't already have this album and you're a Benson fan, get it! Its awesome. P.S. you dont have to be at least 34...I'm only 15, and I love it as well as the other masterpieces in George Benson's sprawling catalogue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Sensuous and Sexy!, November 25, 1999
This review is from: In Your Eyes (Audio CD)
George Benson's voice and his guitar sounding vocals make one uncertain what the instrument really is!Men, if you wish to get your ladylove in an intimate mood, just plop in this CD! Trust me!..my hormones are dancing! All of George Benson's hits take the listener on an ultimate trip, you can feel the lifts and the swells in his voice, the man has a knack for strumming our strings!"In Your Eyes" is a lovely piece, one can almost see a picture of that special someone in your mind. "Lady Love Me One More Time" is my favorite on this tape. This song is upbeat, excellent phrasing and a glorious tempo that just makes me glow! George Benson is one of the greatest jazzers of all time!

I have so many of these albums on 8 track. Now I am replacing my collection to CD. I listen to the sound bites and recall how incredible he is. I hope he is worth millions because he deserves every penny of it. Thanks George for sharing all your talent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true gem, May 13, 2006

Anyone familiar with pop sounds can identify most of the songs in this album as they were frequently played in the early 80's at pop music broadcating radio stations. Most of the times listeners became surprised after learning it was not pop, but jazz.

Benson at its best outreaching the general public... bet you will like all the songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Benson Goes All The Way!, March 21, 2005
This review is from: In Your Eyes (Audio CD)
On 'Give Me The Night' Quincy Jones infused enough jazziness into George Benson's sound to make it work to some jazz fans.On 'In Your Eyes' the guitarist goes all the way R&B with a great set of songs to start out with-an uptempo cover of "Feel Like Makin' Love","Inside Love",the big hit "Lady Love Me" and "Love Will Come Again" all have either a smooth R&B overtone or a lightly funky rhythm.Yet after the inspidly boring title ballad things start to go fast downhill until the lilting "Use Me" and the closing instrumental "In Search of A Dream" save the day. This is probably the last time Benson' R&Bish
stuff had much spark in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Masterpiece, May 24, 2002

With the great input of producer Kashif this album of George Benson is the best, an '80's sound mixture of Funk 'n Soul. You can discover the typical Kashif "sound" in "Inside Love". Playing precisely his part with guitar and lead vocal, perfect background vocals and an excellent rythym this song is great. And so is the rest of the album. Just great...

4.0 out of 5 stars Close to perfection, November 7, 2006

This review is from: In Your Eyes (Audio CD)
After the impressive "Give Me the Night" I had to get this album instantly when it hit the market (in 1983). Boy, was I impressed, but what's even more stunning: I still am after all these years! "In Your Eyes" is a collection of ten songs, each one a pearl of its own right, highly polished rhythm'n'blues pop. Produced by the talented Arif Mardin, we listen to a bunch of sought-after cats of the Californian studio scene back then. Toto keyboarder David Paich pennend "Lady Love Me" together with James Newton-Howard (a track which could have easily appeared on Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album as far as the style and quality is concerned). Kafish contributed "Inside Love", a highly danceable disco track. "Never Too Far to Fall" starts with great chorus vocals, leading into a synth bass driven beat. Sure, George's gifted guitar playing was dislodged into the background a little, but that was obviously the strategy at the time. The cover image appears almost unreal, as if George was painted onto that couch he's sitting on. All in all I think this is a milestone in Benson's discography... Worth having, worth enjoying.
