DAVID GIAMMARCO BIOGRAPHY
David Giammarco is a multi-talented writer, performer, and producer in both television and feature films, as well as international media. In front of the cameras, David has acted opposite Kevin Costner, Dennis Hopper, Kelsey Grammer, and Nathan Lane in the political comedy "Swing Vote"; battled horror icon Freddy Krueger in "Freddy Vs. Jason"; and served as Host and Senior Entertainment Reporter for "E Talk Daily" (2003-2008), the primetime entertainment newsmagazine broadcast nationally on CTV and MTV Canada, as well as CTV NewsNet and "Canada AM".
David has anchored live coverage of such events as The Academy Awards, The Emmy Awards, The Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards, The Golden Globes, and numerous Royal Premieres from London. David also co-hosted the Canadian portion of the historic "Live 8" concert broadcast worldwide to 182 television networks, featuring such legendary performers as Pink Floyd, U2 , The Who, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Green Day, Annie Lennox, Sting, Elton John, and Coldplay.
David has also written, directed, produced and starred in two comedies: "DMG" (which also featured cameo performances from Dan Aykroyd, Leslie Nielsen, Martin Short, Don Rickles and G. Gordon Liddy) as well as the spoof "TwiLite Zone: The Last Episode" (broadcast on The Comedy Network and the Sci-Fi Network). David studied Drama and Filmmaking at York University and got his start as an actor at Toronto's famed Second City.
David has contributed to the productions of the James Bond films, including "The World Is Not Enough" and "Die Another Day" and is the author of the acclaimed best-selling book "For Your Eyes Only: Behind the Scenes of the James Bond Films" (ECW Press). He also shared his Cold War espionage expertise for the Ian Fleming docudrama "True Bond" - which was broadcast in Britain on ITV and in North America on The History Network. "True Bond" earned the Best Documentary Award from the New York Television Festival in 2008.
As well, the November/December 2008 issue of "Cigar Aficionado" was a special James Bond edition written by David Giammarco, featuring an extensive 20-page feature on the making of "Quantum of Solace" from his exclusive interviews on location with Daniel Craig, Gemma Arterton, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric, director Marc Forster, and producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. This tribute issue of the upscale magazine also featured David's in-depth profile of 007 author Ian Fleming and the 46-year history of the Bond films. The James Bond edition of "Cigar Aficionado" became the magazine's biggest-selling issue worldwide.
A respected print journalist syndicated worldwide, David Giammarco has written extensively for countless North American and International publications including "The Globe and Mail", "The National Post", "The Financial Post", "Playboy Magazine", "Cigar Aficionado", "ELLE Magazine", "FilmMaker Magazine", "The Hollywood Reporter", "Razor Magazine", "Max", "Cinefantastique Magazine", "Hello! Magazine", "Ocean Drive Magazine", "The Sydney Times", "The Times of London", "The Sunday Express", "Scotland on Sunday" and "The Sunday Telegraph". The National Archives in Washington, D.C. requested his reporting and investigation into the secret history of the Cold War be included into the historical collection of U.S. Record.
Additionally, David has travelled around the globe with director Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise as the Host, Writer, and Producer for Paramount's "War of the Worlds" television special. The following year, David was invited back by Tom Cruise to work on "Mission: Impossible III" with director J.J. Abrams, where they travelled to Rome, Tokyo, Paris, London, Berlin, Mexico City, and Madrid for filming.
David has also served as Juror on a number of Canadian and American Film Festivals. At the San Diego World Film Festival, where legendary director John Frankenheimer was presented the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, Giammarco conducted a rare Q&A session with John Frankenheimer about his most controversial films: "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962) and "Seven Days in May" (1964).
