More About the Author

I have been an elementary school teacher in both urban and rural school districts. All of my advanced degrees are from Teachers College, Columbia University where I taught at the university demonstration school. I am a Professor Emeritus of Education at CSU, San Bernardino where I taught social studies methods and graduate curriculum and instruction courses and supervised student teachers and interns. I was the liaison to the Hillside-University Demonstration School, a collaboration in its eighteenth year. In addition to numerous conference presentations and journal articles, I am the co-author of three resource books, Pathways to Poetry, and the author of three books to help beginning teachers through their first year of teaching: Beyond Student Teaching and Your First Year of Teaching and Beyond, 4th edition. My newest book is the Teacher's Guide to Success. It covers k-12 and provides a balance of theory research and practice in a very engaing format.
