An easy-to-read, practical, balanced, and informative guide; Should be required reading for any man who cares about women; At last...a book about female stuff written expressly for men. For men who want to do (and say) the right thing, this book will be a godsend. A superb source of succinct medical information blended with a witty, down-to-earth writing style that will also prove an enjoyable read.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Bekkar and Wahn are board-certified gynecologists who often hear complaints about male ignorance of the female reproductive system and reluctance to discuss women's health issues. The authors feel this unwillingness results more from a lack of knowledge than caring and that with proper education, men will be more comfortable discussing female health with their partners. Using a short question-and-answer format, this book blends the technical with the humorous for a fun and engaging read. The chapters begin with short courses on female anatomy, the menstrual cycle, contraception, and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS, then proceed to menopause, breast lumps, Pap smears, and gynecologic surgery. The result is a very informative and interesting book for both men and women. Recommended for public libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars What I thought I knew, March 21, 2000
By
What's most amazing about this book is what you think you knowabout women's sexual organs and functions verses what you will knowafter reading it. I started the book one Saturday morning and couldn't put it down until I was finished. Stunned by my ignorance to what I thought was fact, but so glowing in what I had learned, I could not wait to tell my wife. If you are at all interested in understanding and improving intimancy in your relationships ...read this book. It's fun, with easy to understand terminolgy and concepts!

5.0 out of 5 stars Instructive and Humorous, March 18, 2000
By
I had the pleasure of getting an early copy of this very informative book that covers the female body structure, function, health and disease in a manner that is not only humorous but so very easy to read for the average male (female). As the father of four grown children I can see the benefits of this type of book for a growing family. I found very interesting the exercise on having several male participants draw what they believe to be the shape of the female reproductive system. What came back as response surely belongs to a race on another planet. Funny and instructive. Definitely worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Men AND Women, July 19, 2000
By A Customer
I bought Your Guy's Guide to Gynecology as a present for a male friend. His wife was about to have surgery for an ovarian cyst. As I began the gift wrapping, I thought I might glance at a section or two myself. Three hours later, I had read every page. The authors have covered all the most up-to-date info on female gynecology written in an easy to read, understandable style. As women we think we know all about our female reproductive systems and the problems that might happen but to be honest, it's usually hearsay or misinformation from the media. I immediately bought a copy for all the females in my family: daughter, daughters in law, nieces, etc. I have even reviewed Dr. Bekkar's and Dr. Wahn's book with my Book Club. This well presented book may have been written to enlighten men but I feel it is a MUST for women.
