Book Description

Harlequin Super Romance April 1, 2005

Home is where the heart is…

The quirky Victorian may be old and dilapidated, but it's the house at the center of the dreams Meg Hamilton has for herself and her little boy. And it's rightfully hers, thanks to the deed Aunt Amelia signed four years ago. So when Meg arrives in Mount Esther, she's shocked to find it's been sold—to the town's very arresting deputy sheriff.

Wade Murdock bought Amelia's house fair and square. His wife's tragic death ripped his family apart, and this house is where he hopes they'll build their future.

One house, two families. Only one of them can have it.

More About the Author

I'm Cynthia Thomason, writer of romance and some mystery. I am from America's heartland - born in Indiana and raised in Ohio. While working my way through college, I took a job at a radio and TV station and got hooked on journalism. To make a living, I taught high school English for several years before moving to south Florida where my husband and I started an auction company. I became a licensed auctioneer and estate buyer which fed my love for uncovering unusual and oddball items. Luckily I haven't yet crossed the line between collector and hoarder! Recently my writer husband, Walter, and I sold our business. I miss the excitement of the auction but I can write full time now. I also have time to experiment with the new Kindle craze. I have some back list titles up now for purchase. I have won the HOLT Medallion Award, the Golden Quill and Readers' Choice Awards and I've been nominated several times for the prestigious Maggie Award. Though I haven't won the Maggie, "It was an honor just to be nominated..." (Practicing for my Oscar speech :-) I love to write about American's small towns, similar to the one where I grew up in Summit County, Ohio. I like to travel the U.S. especially in the travel trailer we just bought so we can take Sparky, our adorable silky terrier mix. I have one son, also a writer. My favorite place to spend an afternoon is the mountains of North Carolina, but I haven't been to Ireland yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Cheers for Aunt Amelia!, April 15, 2005
This review is from: Your House or Mine? (Harlequin Superromance No. 1268) (Mass Market Paperback)
Obviously the old dear knew this couple needed to get together--why else would she have caused the rightful ownership of her house to be in question? Ms. Thomason has done an outstanding job with Meg and Wade, making the reader fall in love with them from the outset. I also especially liked the subplot about Meg's career as a professional auctioneer. A fun read from beginning to end!

5.0 out of 5 stars amusing contemporary romance, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Your House or Mine? (Harlequin Superromance No. 1268) (Mass Market Paperback)
Orlando resident Meg Hamilton learns that her beloved nonagenarian Aunt Amelia Ashford has been placed in a home as she recovers from a fall and shows signs of dementia. Since her aunt already quit claim deed her Mount Esther house to Meg, the younger woman decides that relocating with her ten year old son Spencer might be good for them as the Colonial Auction House business that she owns with her irresponsible brother Jerry is floundering.

In Mount Esther, Meg meets Deputy Sheriff Wade Murdock, a former New York cop. Wade informs Meg that he paid 20K as a down payment on the home. Apparently Amelia has spent much of it buying all sorts of stuff, mostly still unopened, from catalogues. As Meg and Wade struggle with ownership problems and trying to do the right thing, they begin to fall in love. However she distrusts males ever since her former husband deserted her and Spence; he still feels guilt over his wife's death and how much that has shaken his daughter Jenny.

YOUR HOUSE OR MINE is an amusing contemporary romance with a serious undertone and a touch of intrigue. The lead characters are terrific as they learn how difficult it is to court someone with kids hanging around. The children are solidly drawn as they have abandonment troubles caused by a desertion and a death respectively. Amelia is a fabulous soul who brings to life the aging crisis that affects the sandwich generation. Throw on top of that legal problems at the auction house for selling stolen goods and Amelia's deceased uncle's buried treasures from his scams. Fans will enjoy this fine tale.
