Book Description

April 2004
"THINK OUTSIDE THE BOOK"

Have you thought about building a Locost sports car or maybe getting a build-it-yourself Birkin or a Factory Five kit?

Your Kit Car Assembly Manual is written for anyone that owns or is building a Lotus 7 inspired sports car or that is interested in building any type of hot-rod or kit car.

If you bought the "Book", but you do not have access to Escort or a Sierra parts, what do you do to go about redesigning and building your own sportscar with locally available parts?

You should get yourself a copy of the Manual.

Your Kit Car Assembly Manual shows you the steps to thoughtfully assemble your own sports car, details a number of ways that you can improve your existing car beyond its original design and improve its reliability.

TO SEARCH INSIDE THE MANUAL - SIMPLY CLICK ON ANY OF THE CUSTOMER IMAGE BOXES IMMEDIATELY BELOW THE CD - COVER PHOTO

Your Kit Car Assembly Manual is formatted like a book, but it is vastly better.

You can take Your Kit Car Assembly Manual anywhere. Just drop the Manual into the CD-drive of any Windows©-based computer. Now you are ready to go!

Print out any page that you want. Want to take a closer look at a photo? Enlarge the photo to get a more detailed look. You can easily zoom in on any of the over 400 photos with a few of mouse-clicks.

Bookmark tabs located in the left-hand margin facilitate instant access to the entire Manual. All of the 438 pages are instantly accessible at the touch of a button. You simply can’t do that with a book using a printed format!

Where most kit car books detail a build centered about using one particular donor, Your Kit Car Assembly Manual expands your automotive design knowledge, showing you the design solutions used by several manufacturers.

With the Manual, you can "think outside the Book" and see how others approach their build. You determine the design solution that best suits your own situation.

Learn from the professional experience of author Gary Brizendine who’s been involved with designing, building, improving, and successfully campaigning numerous championship-winning British road racing sports cars since 1967.

While the Manual is produced from the building of a Lotus 7 inspired kit car, the details and suggestions can be used in the build of any type of kit. Builders of Factory Five Roadsters as well as traditional American-style T-bucket hotrods are getting this Manual too.

Every page contains a gold mine of useful information.

Your Kit Car Assembly Manual shows the reader how to complete the chassis, assemble the front & rear suspension, install steering, brakes and chassis ancillaries, covers wiring, lights, gearbox details, and carries through a well thought-out engine installation plus numerous tips on completing your sports car in a professional fashion.

With this informative Manual, you will find out just about anything and everything that you need to know about your car in a Manual that is written in clear concise language.

If you enjoy building sports cars, don’t miss Your Kit Car Assembly Manual.

About the Author

Gary Brizendine was born in Dallas and raised in the SCCA Southwest Division club racing venues in the late 1960’s and 1970’s. During that time, he polished wheels, built engines, and prepared a variety of successful club race cars whose drivers collected five SCCA division championships. Although these activities may have been a lot of work, there remains numerous good friends scattered between Riverside, California, Elkhart Lake, and Road Atlanta. In his spare time, he turned wrenches for other acquaintances whose rides ranged from Zink Formula Vee’s, Triumphs, Datsuns, Camaros, Lolas & McLarens.

Concurrently, he obtained a degree in Automotive Technology plus a bachelor’s degree in Industry & Technology from Texas A&M at Commerce. His professional experience includes building and testing automotive air conditioning systems for a global manufacturer, coordinating machine shop manufacturing operations, designing oil well cementing and fracturing equipment, a part-time instructor for college credit classes in Automotive Technology, and designing metallic & composite airframe structural repairs for F-111. F-16, C-17, plus repairs for Douglas & Boeing commercial aircraft on a contract basis.

After building several kit cars and seeing the relative vacuum of assembly instructions available, it seemed reasonable to share the +35 years of sports car & aircraft building experience coupled with the experienced gained while building several makes of Lotus 7 style clones, hence, Your Kit Car Assembly Manual.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Resource!, November 11, 2004
This review is from: Your Kit Car Assembly Manual (CD-ROM)
This is the most complete text on the subject of building and modifying 7-type cars I have ever found. There are hundreds of detailed, zoomable pictures that make the descriptions even more understandable than what is explained in the text. This book has information on things I had never even thought of. Gary Brizendine clearly has a complete, if not absolute, knowledge of how to build a winner for the track, street, and show. This book should be the #1 resource in your library if you are considering, in the process of, or have a finished 7-type car. You will be impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for any Locost builder or owner, May 5, 2006
This review is from: Your Kit Car Assembly Manual (CD-ROM)
Your Kit Car Assembly Manual has been a big help in planning and building my Locost sports car. Nearly every page has a concise bit of text with a representative photo. This gets the authors point across very well.
I like the CD-PDF format. This format is a great idea for any technical publication. You can easily click or scroll along as you read. The author obviously knows and enjoys relating these topics to other builders.
Certainly worth the price that I paid. I recommended The Manual.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most useful build-your-own car book that I have read, April 12, 2005
This review is from: Your Kit Car Assembly Manual (CD-ROM)
Your Kit Car Assembly Manual is very useful because it shows how to build your own replica Lotus Super 7 sports car and plan modifications to make the car better than the original Locost "Book" car.

There are hundreds of great color photos of cars built by several different manufacturers so you can compare their particular ideas and their designs.

The Manual lets you see how to adapt the best features from the different cars when you are building your own Locost.

The CD-book format is actually very useful and is easy to use. You just mouse-click from one chapter to another by picking the topic you want to see from the Table of Contents on the left hand edge of the screen.

I go back to the Manual often to re-read sections and study the photos as my car progresses. It is like being a student in an Automotive Technology classroom.

Your Kit Car Assembly Manual is one of the most useful car books that I have ever read. Highly recommended.
