Tremendously insightful book,
This review is from: Your Life is Waiting: The Average Joe's Guide to Overcoming Panic Attacks and Anxiety (Paperback)
Of all the books I've read on panic disorders, this was by far the easiest one for me to connect with. The author's style of writing made me feel as though he was an old friend having a conversation with me. As a sufferer of panic attacks, I felt like this book most accurately captured how I feel when panic sets in. The book was such an easy read, I passed it along to my family, and they found it very helpful. The author delivers his message in plain English. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has any experience with panic disorders.

Real Help,
This review is from: Your Life is Waiting: The Average Joe's Guide to Overcoming Panic Attacks and Anxiety (Paperback)
This book gives the reader a vivid description of the life-stealing realities of panic attacks and agoraphobia. Rafe doesn't stop there, though. He outlines his own journey to take back control over his life. Instead of turning to medication, he used simple, yet effective strategies to recover. As a counselor, I recognized many of the strategies that Rafe successfully used. I will definitely recommend this book to anyone I work with who is struggling with high anxiety, panic attacks or agoraphobia.

Exactly what I needed to overcome anxiety!,
This review is from: Your Life is Waiting: The Average Joe's Guide to Overcoming Panic Attacks and Anxiety (Paperback)
I really connected with Rafe as I read about his experiences with panic attacks and agoraphobia. It's good to know that someone has been through the same things that I'm going through now, and to know that panic attacks and anxiety are not going to be permanent for me. I love his conversational tone. He explains things in a way that is easy to understand. He also states early on that he's just an "average Joe" that has lived through this. That's what I was looking for. Definitely no doctor speak in this book. I'm getting my life back! Thanks, Rafe.

For a Fairly small book it is "huge" with information, sincerity and punch. The author made this read easy, packed with the account of his affliction with "panic attacks, anxiety and agoraphobia". It's the first book Ive read that has made my battle with the same afflictions a doable goal "without medications". The purpose of the author's story is written with sincerity and the hope of helping other people to overcome obstacles of debillitating disorders. I liked it so much that I sent it to my sister who is also a sufferer (of many years). I used his suggested guides to recovery before I even finished the book. I have hope, thank you thank you, thank you!

This book does a wonderful job of describing what it's like to go through a panic attack. It also gives many strategies for how to overcome them without using medication. I used a combination of medication and the suggestions from the book since my specific case was medically caused. I'm happy to say that I am now not using the meds and only using the strategies suggested! I also shared this book with my family members that didn't understand what I was going through. After reading the first section, they had a much clearer understanding of panic attacks and were much more sympathetic towards me!

Panic attacks are getting better,
This review is from: Your Life is Waiting: The Average Joe's Guide to Overcoming Panic Attacks and Anxiety (Paperback)
This is a great book for me because I can relate to the author. Some of the things he describes are exactly what I'm feeling. I'm using the approach he describes when fighting off a panic attack. It's getting easier to deal with panic attacks now. I'm looking forward to the day when panic attacks will be gone forever. Thanks for sharing your story.

This book was a quick read and easy to follow. As Jafe the author has in the title, this is for the Average Joe. I'm thrilled for Jafe and his strides to overcome his anxiety, panic and agoraphobia. I hope this book helps someone who has suffered just for a brief period of time. Jafe suffered three years and was cured. I have suffered for almost 38 years and have had my ups and downs. I feel this book is a quick and to the point "outline" for the Average Joe. However, someone looking for more information on anxiety, panic, agoraphobia, OCD and other related illnesses would do better by reading more in-depth books by the professionals. As Jafe had mentioned in his book, he had purchased numerous books about these conditions. I suggest anyone suffering with any of these conditions to do their research as well. Jafe's book is just an "outline" to me. I feel that the book made the conditions seem simple and easy to overcome. From my own personal journey, it is a long, long hard road and it isn't trivial. I understand what Jafe was trying to present in his book, so this is a good read for someone who never experienced a panic attack. For the individuals with more complex conditions and who are living with the conditions at this very moment, I suggest a more in-depth book. There is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist either. You must have a good connection with your therapist for it to work. If there is no connection find another therapist. Talking with someone can really make a huge difference in your search for wellness.Jafe's book is inspiring and a quick read. I have mixed feelings though. On one hand it is a good read for someone who doesn't understand these conditions; and on the other hand, it needs more information for the individual who is suffering from these illnesses. Good luck to all of those working on recovery. Remember that Albert Einstein said, "Nothing happens until something moves". Such a simple statement but it is packed with so much power. Also, someone once told me, "It is in the DOING that makes you BETTER". These are two affirmations that I like to use from time to time.

I have struggled with Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia for the past 10 years. Though out my struggles I have always been in search of an uplifting story of someone who hit rock bottom due to panic disorder and overcome it. This book was inspiring, true to life and brought me words of hope. Sometimes you just need to know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, that life can return to normal and it can be done without the use of drugs. I highly recommend this book if you are searching for an inspirational story that will provide motivation, tools and secrets to keep fighting panic. I am so grateful that I purchased this book and will continue to read it over and over until I can say I have been won the battle with my panic monster too!

The book was very easy to read. The thing is is what works for one person isn't a cure all for everyone else. If it helps some people great. But if your anxiety problems are really complex this book alone won't help or may not help at all.
