About the Author

Nick Vujicic is a motivational speaker and the director of the nonprofit organization Life Without Limbs. A long-time resident of Australia, Nick now lives with his wife in southern California.

Excerpt. © Reprinted by permission. All rights reserved.

My name is Nick Vujicic (pronounced VOY-a-chich). I am twenty-seven years old. I was born without any limbs,
but I am not constrained by my circumstances. I travel the world encouraging millions of people to overcome adversity
with faith, hope, love, and courage so that they may pursue their dreams.

In this booklet I will share with you my experiences in dealing with adversity and obstacles, some of them unique to
me but most universal to us all. My goal is to encourage you to overcome your own challenges and hardships so you can find your own purpose and pathway to a great life.

To do that well, though, you need to have hope. Why is hope so important? Where do we find it? And how do we sustain hope when life brings us hard things? Time and again in my life and in my travels I have witnessed the incredible power of the human spirit. I know for certain that miracles happen, but only for those who hang on to hope.

What is hope? It is where dreams begin. It is the voice of your purpose. It speaks to you and reassures you that whatever happens to you doesn’t live within you. You may not control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond.

The late Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., said, “Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.” I know for certain that as long as you draw breath, hope is available to you. You and I are only human. We cannot see into the future. Instead, we picture the possibilities for what might be.

Only God knows how our lives will unfold. Hope is His gift to us, a window to look through. We cannot know the
future He has planned for us. Trust in Him, keep hope in your heart, and even when faced with the worst, do whatever
you can to prepare yourself for the best! Sometimes, of course, our prayers are not answered. Tragedies occur despite
our prayers and our faith. Even the best people with the purest of hearts sometimes suffer horrible losses and grief. The recent deadly earthquakes in Haiti, Chile, Mexico, and China are just the most recent examples that tremendous suffering and tragedies occur every day. Thousands died in those natural catastrophes. Their hopes and dreams died with them. Many mothers lost their children. Many children lost their mothers.

How do you sustain hope amid such suffering? One thing that sustains me when I hear of these great calamities is
the fact that they always trigger incredible caring from other human beings. Just when you wonder why, amid such senseless suffering, people would still have hope, hundreds of selfless volunteers pour into those regions. Students, doctors, engineers, and other rescuers and rebuilders give of themselves and their talents to help those who have survived.

Hope appears even in the worst of times to give us proof of God’s presence. My own suffering seems so slight in comparison to the trials endured by so many people I’ve met. I’ve also grieved the loss of a loved one. Our family lost my cousin Roy to cancer at the age of twenty-seven, despite the fervent prayers of all the devout Christians in our family, church, and community. Losing someone so close to you is heartbreaking and difficult to understand, which is why having hope is so important to me. You see, my hope extends beyond our worldly existence.

I had the honor of hearing Nick Vujicic speak at my parents' church a few years ago. Every so often since then, I have thought of his powerfully inspirational message and wondered what he was up to. When the opportunity came to read and review a new booklet written by Nick, I jumped at the chance. The booklet is titled Your Life Without Limits and appears to be something of a companion to his full-length book titled Life Without Limits.

In a fashion similar to his speaking style, Nick presents a conversational look at how you and I can learn from Nick's unique experiences (having been born without limbs) and also our own. He writes about hope, courage and the plans God has for each and every one of us.

"Hope appears even in the worst of times to give us proof of God's existence," he writes. Nick's message of hope found in the Lord is clear without being pushy-a perfect balance for those from all backgrounds who are searching for answers.

I appreciate that Nick doesn't belittle anyone else's struggles as "less than" what he has gone through with his own, instead he approaches this book with sympathy and understanding, but most importantly with encouragement. "Have courage to pursue your own dreams, and never doubt your ability to meet whatever challenges come your way," he writes.

I would recommend this booklet for any person our group (it comes in sets of 10) struggling to overcome difficult circumstances-be they physical, emotional or otherwise. Nick is relatable, and his tone is easy to read. And in the end, this booklet definitely entices me to locate a copy of his full-length book Life Without Limits.

I received a complimentary copy of Your Life Without Limits from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group, but I was not otherwise compensated for this review. All writing, thoughts, and opinions are solely mine.

Your Life Without Limits is a compellingly honest booklet by Nick Vujicic in which he talks about his life without limbs... and limits. Vujicic, a South African young man, was born without arms or legs. In this booklet he shares a brief account of his struggles and the freedom he found in Christ.

When I reflected on this booklet for the review, the word that kept coming to my head was the one I used before: honest. Vujicic talks transparently about his former depression and despair, as well as the One who lifted him out. I felt Vujicic's sincerity and appreciated the openness with which he shared his struggles with his differences... and smiled as he found Jesus transcends such differences.

I believe this is a lovely little booklet and would share it.

I received this book for free from Waterbrook Multnomah in exchange for my unbiased review.

Nick's story is an amazing one, but that doesn't come out in this book, which I found to be short and superficial. Listen to Nick's presentations or buy the full book for some true inspiration. This one really isn't worth the money.

We think, as Nick did, that God must make us "normal" or physically perfect so then we can go out and do what He has called us to do. But as this story shows, God uses our imperfectness for His Perfect Will. He uses us right where we are.

I highlighted half of the book. His message is so powerful that I read this book at least once a week, I select a random page and just read a couple of pages.

Nick is an amazing person and he is also very genuine and authentic in his way to tell his story. There is something to learn from this and be bigger and taller.
