my english is not good enough to tell the beauty of this album.I like depressive, melancholic music and to hear that genre from the best stars of rock like michael stipe(R.E.M),chris martin (Coldplay) is really amazing.I couldn't understand why the other user rated this album 1 star. You should buy it if you want to hear something good.

My second favorite CD of all time.,

Unbelievably good.Closer, Colder was an experimental evolution of hip-hop and electronica, and I love it, but this album is the hights of perfection. Part DJ Shadow, part Air, part Coldplay, this is an album reaching for the stars. The vocal tracks, featuring an A list of musical talent, are outstanding, but the instrumental songs are without question, beautiful. Sweet Iris is a look into mine own soul. And Clocks, Faultline's Clocks, always gets my mind beating in tune. The Collosal Grey Sunshine is my favorite track, and one of my favorite songs of all time. David Kosten is a rising star, one to look for, but not look at.

Faultline - Your Love Means Everything,
This review is from: Your Love Means Everything (Audio CD)
Faultline's second album, YOUR LOVE MEANS EVERYTHING, starts off beautifully, with the icy grace of the title track. But this album adds a new texture--vocals--that are both a blessing and a curse. Chris Martin lends his emotion to "Where Is My Boy?" for a haunting track, and Jacob Golden brings a bright falsetto to the folksy "Bitter Kiss." (Though to follow that with the coarse "Waiting for the Green Light" is a major mistake). The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne adds a bit of psychedelia to the otherwise clear, while Michael Stipe turns in a surprisingly touching rendition of the classic "Greenfields." Elsewhere, the instrumentals like "Sweet Iris" and "Theme for Half Speed" show the delicacy to sound and mood that Faultline amply demonstrated on CLOSER COLDER. "Clocks" and "Lost Broadcast" go for a more rock-driven sound--perhaps as a crossover attempt?--but it doesn't feel as well-rendered. Chris Martin once again lends his voice to the reprise of "Your Love Means Everything," bringing together the two halves of the album. A strong attempt, if not totally successful.

Absolutely Stunning.,

David Kosten's instrumentals of this album are all magneficent... but it's the use of vocals in this album that really make it shine. All of the vocals are wonderfully executed and match so well with the instrumentals... You've got the big names such as Chris Martin (Coldplay) and Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips) but then you also have some artists that aren't well known such as Jacob Golden. Golden's track (Bitter Kiss) in particular shines out for me, his voice is unlike anything I've ever heard... This is a wonderful album.

Not that Faultline really needs my promotional skills, thanks to KCRW, but this is a really good CD. Some of the songs are not as good as others, but there are some REAL GEMS here. I highly recommend. It's really worth listening.

All the songs seem really slow and tired and melancholy. With appearances by the likes of Chris Martin, it should sound that way, but this just goes too far and the songs seem too repetitive (I really do like Chris in Coldplay). There is one track with exception to the typical sound - the song where cannibal ox throws down a rap rhyme just to keep the kids in touch with their funky side. Yo. I didn't like that sound either. I think the photos in the CD booklet are indicitive of the music on the CD. Lets see, there is a photo of a wrench, an electrical outlet adapter, a remote control, a camera, and a water bottle. Yay. |
