Right from the Loud electric arpegiated cord that opens this album, you know it's going to be awesome. From the rocking "Call it Democracy" to the dark, intense "Strange Waters", and the amazing fingerpicking on "Facist Architecture" and the title track, there's not a lousy track on this album. The recording is clear and well mixed, but still has a raw in your face quality that you would want from a live performance. I own a few of Bruce's records and enjoy them, but this is by far my favorite. I never really get tired of hearing it. Highly recommended.

I had heard "Charity of Night" before, so I 'gambled' on this CD (for only $7... not much of a gamble!). The energy of live performance is completely intact, and for an "older guy", Bruce still rocks right up there with any 20-something band. "Strange Waters", "Birmingham Shadows" (both off 'Charity') and "Stolen Land" all have a great atmosphere, and are intense without needing to be really noisy or need screaming vocals.

What a treat to have been at this concert exactly thirteen years ago today and I still remember it like it was last night- 3rd row, center stage. Bruce doing what he does best, performing live. Sound is great as it was recorded in a smaller venue, The Barrymore Theatre, excellent for up close and personal concerts. Simply put, this live recording is perfect Bruce, no disappointments here. Only wish they had included "Pacing The Cage" (best version of that song I've ever heard!), and a few other songs he sang that night, but not on the CD.

I've seen BC live a few times ,and listening to his studio work, compared to the live releases, I'd have to say that if you want to really hear this guy, get the live CD's. He is a live performer way beyond compare. Especially to the twenty-somethings,and I just can't even think of any younger performers who have the heart, intensity and talent of Cockburn. Live music really is better! If you've never seen him live, especially if you are a player, then go see him. Your jaw will drop!

What Bruce is Like Live!,

"Stolen Land" and "Strange Waters" are the best tracks. It's a short CD, but a powerful rendition of the energy that Bruce brings on stage. Bruce has some politic messages too.
