Book Description

If Your Money Talked...
It would tell Gary Sirak he got it right: The real lessons about money don't come with a calculator in your hand, but a mirror. Ego, Impatience, skewed self-perceptions, get-rich quick come-ons, lying to yourself and others about money - these, and many more, are the building blocks of lifestyles of the broke and regretful. But there's a better way, and Sirak tells you what it is, with simplicity, wit and compassion.

Improving your financial story begins with an honest look inward. And Sirak's story begins with a warm look backward. From the moment he raised money to go to camp by selling peppermint patties door-to-door from a little red wagon - overcoming shyness and realizing the power of setting goals in the process - he began to understand that people don't just have (or not have) money. They have a relationship with money.

It's that insight that makes Sirak as much a counselor as an adviser. Now, after more than 30 years working with both the absurdly affluent and the desperately debt-laden, Sirak shares real-life stories to illustrate the seven common mistakes people make with their money, and the often dramatic consequences that result.

Learn how you can avoid or overcome those same mistakes as Sirak takes you on a tour of his lessons, ranging from a modern-day miser who'd rather count his money than furnish his home to the inner thoughts of an unlikely scam-artist victim: Sirak himself. Pitfalls, trapdoors and dead ends revealed, Sirak closes with a list of eight secrets to financial peace-of-mind, including his wise Marriage Money Agreement.

Profoundly influenced by his parents, and in the tradition of The Millionaire Next Door and Think and Grow Rich, Sirak offers guidance that is wise, practical, and infinitely time-tested.

From the Back Cover

Praise for If Your Money Talked...
"Everybody loves secrets. They love them even more if the person revealing the secrets actually knows what he's writing about. Gary Sirak probably knows more ins and outs and behind-the-scenes wisdom about handling money than anyone readers will ever encounter. Great secrets, great wisdom, great advice."
Dan Sullivan - President, The Strategic Coach Inc.

"This is one outstanding book. It is loaded with user-friendly, practical, sage advice on life, business and relationships. It is an appropriate read for any age and reminds me of the classics Who Moved My Cheese and The One Minute Manager. As may be evident by now, I recommend it highly."
David Coleman - 13-Time Speaker of the Year, 2011 Entertainer of the Year

"Gosh, so much is going through my head. The book is simple and really basic but the stories are so powerful that you sit there and think."
Pegine Echevarria, MSW, CSP - Speaker, Author, Thought Leader

Oh, if I could have had this book years ago, it would have helped to make many a very LONG frustrating financial discussion with my husband go much smoother. In his book, "If Your Money Talked What Secrets Would It Tell?", Gary Sirak illuminates his Eight Principles of Money as well as Money Secrets to help anyone establish a stable and sustainable financial future, in a concise, easy-to-read style. He provides clear examples of life situations to aid in seeing the application of these Principles and secrets.

Gary's most important point is made when he recognizes how differently men and women think about money, and he gives the reader both guidance and a tool to use to overcome these differences! THANK YOU, GARY! I am buying copies of the book for both of my sons and their wife/girlfriend.

The ideas that Gary shares may be common sense on some level ("Oh, Yeah, I should know that!?!"), but I've never seen these ideas put on paper or taught in a course, connected to build a scaffold for financial security. And I've never known anyone brave enough to try to give a couple living together, sharing living expenses, the platform to use as a basis for the real nitty-gritty conversation that is needed to make a budget and become financially solvent, or to build dreams!!

Gary's book is written in a clear and understandable style. I think this is a must-read for those just beginning their financial pictures; however, the advice given is simple and smart for anyone facing financial issues. Gary's approach is sincere, based on life's experiences (often the best teacher) and will provide invaluable, broad advice on the few simple rules to follow be be successful financially.

5.0 out of 5 stars Common cents January 4, 2013
Format:Hardcover
Not only have I read Gary's book, but I've also heard him discuss it. His common sense approach may seem elementary at first by some, but not everyone understands the basic fundamentals of personal finance. Gary gives comprehensive and down to earth advice in an easy to read style. I especially recommend this book for those just setting out on the road to financial freedom. They could not go wrong by reading it. Gary's advice could prove to be invaluable. Thank you, Gary, for sharing your knowledge and expertise.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love clear advice December 31, 2012
By Warren
Format:Hardcover
As I sat down to read Mr. Sirak's advice about that which I understand so poorly, I resentfully said to my self,"last book on this subject". Later that evening I felt gentle and easy--I realized that Sirak had taken a subject, so fraught with emotion and misunderstanding, and said it so clearly and briefly, that I understood. I then knew that I could do what was needed. I do love simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book changed the course of my life! December 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this 3 times in a row! It forces you to take an internal look at yourself! I loved witnessing the transformation within me each time I read it. I realized so many different aspects of my life and my experiences which shaped my relationship with money. Before reading this book, like many I'm sure, I didn't even know that our life experiences could have such a positive or negative effect on our relationship with money. This is a must read for those of us who desire a happy and healthy relationship with money. Learn why it is you spend, save, or gift money the way you do, understand how your view of self is often expressed by the way you handle money, and most importantly... learn how to begin building a positive future with your money before it's too late!
