Life Lessons from People Like You.....Cops and psychologists, bureaucrats and salesmen, lion tamers and morticians...everybody's got a story to tell and a life lesson we can take to heart. In the "Your Name Here GUIDE TO LIFE", you'll meet all kinds of accidental teachers, from balloon boy to Mother Teresa and Mr. Totally Secure. It's all here, along with a few insights about how to be truly happy. This is the book you'd write about your life and your wisdom, if we hadn't done all the work for you. Author Michael Rosenbaum has been recording the insights of everyday people for decades, capturing our essential truths and documenting our follies. This collection of life lessons delivers an instructive and funny tour of the human condition. Warning: Intended solely for people with open minds and common sense. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Advice Must be Timely Advice August 10, 2009
Format:Paperback
For baby boomers, the morals of the stories are not new. As we read, we figuratively strike chords and nod in assent, then jot our own thoughts in the space provided to do so. Had we reflected more thoughtfully on these principles when we were the ages of today's X'ers and Y'ers, we would have improved our decisions and our lives. Get a copy of this book for each of your teen-plus children and grandchildren. After they read it(takes only an hour), quiz them to make sure the "truth has slapped them in the face".

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember to bring a sharp #2 lead pencil August 9, 2009
Format:Paperback
This is a book for the quiet, private moments that we can carve out of the day to form our thoughts and share them with ourselves. Michael gets us to that place quickly in "Your Name Here, GUIDE TO LIFE". But bring a pencil. When I began writing in the "My Story" space at the end of each chapter I found that I was truly interacting with, not just reading the book. Michael brings a punchy style, honed over many years of news reporting and public relations writing that gets us to the point quickly and then invites us to take the remaining time to ponder. Its like having a friend sitting and sharing an evening of stories and wisdom, and leaving you with a set of notes on your conversation. Prepared to be pleased that you can enjoy something so quickly and that you can have a delightful conversation with a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Passing it on to my son August 4, 2009
Format:Paperback
During my 51 years on this little journey of life I continue to amaze myself regarding the ways I can mess up. It's always nice to know that I have company. The cool thing is that I keep evolving by learning my lessons. I have a 14-year-old son that I would like to download my experience into with one click. But as most of us know, this "force feeding" approach doesn't work too well. After reading Michael's book, it quickly became apparent that maybe a third party could be a little more impressionable on him...but only in bits and pieces. I have begun leaving my son one of the stories every other day or so. I put them on his chair at his desk. Before he jumps onto Facebook for a marathon session, he can invest just a minute or two to read some reassurance--that he's not alone facing the daily challenges of life. It's all a matter of perspective and Michael did a great job of framing a lifetime of it. It's a gift I can't thank him enough for.
