Good Advice Must be Timely Advice,
By
This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
For baby boomers, the morals of the stories are not new. As we read, we figuratively strike chords and nod in assent, then jot our own thoughts in the space provided to do so. Had we reflected more thoughtfully on these principles when we were the ages of today's X'ers and Y'ers, we would have improved our decisions and our lives. Get a copy of this book for each of your teen-plus children and grandchildren. After they read it(takes only an hour), quiz them to make sure the "truth has slapped them in the face".

Remember to bring a sharp #2 lead pencil,

This is a book for the quiet, private moments that we can carve out of the day to form our thoughts and share them with ourselves. Michael gets us to that place quickly in "Your Name Here, GUIDE TO LIFE". But bring a pencil. When I began writing in the "My Story" space at the end of each chapter I found that I was truly interacting with, not just reading the book. Michael brings a punchy style, honed over many years of news reporting and public relations writing that gets us to the point quickly and then invites us to take the remaining time to ponder. Its like having a friend sitting and sharing an evening of stories and wisdom, and leaving you with a set of notes on your conversation. Prepared to be pleased that you can enjoy something so quickly and that you can have a delightful conversation with a book.

Passing it on to my son,
By T. Padgett "Thankful Guy" (Lake Zurich, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
During my 51 years on this little journey of life I continue to amaze myself regarding the ways I can mess up. It's always nice to know that I have company. The cool thing is that I keep evolving by learning my lessons. I have a 14-year-old son that I would like to download my experience into with one click. But as most of us know, this "force feeding" approach doesn't work too well. After reading Michael's book, it quickly became apparent that maybe a third party could be a little more impressionable on him...but only in bits and pieces. I have begun leaving my son one of the stories every other day or so. I put them on his chair at his desk. Before he jumps onto Facebook for a marathon session, he can invest just a minute or two to read some reassurance--that he's not alone facing the daily challenges of life. It's all a matter of perspective and Michael did a great job of framing a lifetime of it. It's a gift I can't thank him enough for.

My New Guide to Life!,

This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
As an adult in his mid-twenties trying to piece together this puzzle known as "life," this book is a great guide to follow along the journey. Especially during these economic hardships, Rosenbaum's stories remind us all that life is short, and we need to just relax and live a little. This is one of those books that can be read over and over again, while learning something new about oneself each time. I would have loved to have read a book like this while growing up, but I appreciate it even more now throughout my daily ventures in adulthood. This is truly a book for young, old, and in-between, and I highly recommend it.

There's a Lesson for Each of Us in this Book!,

This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
I just finished reading "Your Name Here Guide to Life" for the third time and the more I read it the more I learn! This time through I was struck by how relevant three sections were to my life right at this moment: "Choices", "The Burning Bush", and "No, He Just Looks Like Me." It's as if the author, Michael Rosenbaum, was watching what was going on for me and wrote these sections just to provide this guide for me right now. And the same thing happened a few months ago when I read it the last time, but that time it was a different section, "The Secret to Happiness" that made an impact. This is a book that will offer you different lessons each time you read it because you'll be at a different place in your life. It's a quick read, both funny and philosophical, and I recommend it highly.

Wow . . .Seriously - WOW!,
By Harvey Varsho "Harvey" (Midwest, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
By tying real-world scenarios and personal stories from his past to a series of life lessons, Michael Rosenbaum has delivered a gem. The reader will no doubt recognize himself (or herself) throughout this book, and if he (or she) can take away even one point from this collection of life lessons, they will absolutely lead a better life for it. Michael leveraged a witty, sarcastic, and concise approach to make his point, and this book would be a great read for all - from the high school graduate embarking on a college career, to the newly retired grandfather seeking to find happiness in his new role.

GUIDE TO LIFE WILL CHANGE YOUR WORLD VIEW,

This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
"Reading Mike Rosenbaum's book "Your Name Here GUIDE TO LIFE" is like having your own Jiminy Cricket beside you, helping you make smarter life choices. But instead of mere chirping, Mike brings a sense of humor and real life experiences to bear for all of us looking to reach our potential as functioning people. The clever "fill in the blank" personal scorecard after each chapter personalizes the lessons so you can truly make the story All about You. This is a book for anyone who wants to look in the "mirror" and then find that they really like the person staring back. Highly recommended."

A book for our times. Timeless wisdom and lots of laughs.,

This review is from: Your Name Here Guide to Life: The book you'd have written, if only you had the time. (Paperback)
You will wince with recognition and howl with laughter over Michael Rosenbaum's little book of life lessons. Life lessons surround us if we just take a closer look, as Rosenbaum illustrates through engaging storytelling, told with pathos and humor. With sympathy for being human, Michael reminds us that some things in life are just bigger than the recession, starting with the love in our hearts.

A great review from a one time Skeptic,

I was prepared to not like this book. I typically do not like life recipe books e.g. how to be thinner, smarter, get dates, solve all of your problems, etc.
This book was different. It was short "bites" of terrific wisdom written for ordinary people. I found the book to be crisp and very relevant. I have already put some of the lessons learned to work with great results. The book is a worthwhile quick read and I highly recommend it to everyone. |
