Product Description

Do ghosts really exist, or is "ghostly phenomena" just strange stuff that gets blamed on dead people? Giving you the real story, professional ghostbuster and skeptic Adam Selzer of Weird Chicago Tours delves into a mysterious death at a former funeral parlor, nightly ghost sightings at Hull House, and more. Proving that not all ghost hunters are kooks (some are just geeks gone wild), Selzer showcases true spooky tales worldwide, a history of hauntings, the art of ghost hunting, and cool evidence of paranormal phenomena and the supernatural. These ghost stories will make you want to investigate that cemetery down the road to see if it's haunted—or just dark and creepy.

"Any remotely spooky place that people sneak into in order to get wasted will eventually turn up on a TV show, website, or book about ghosts."
—Selzer's First Theorem

About the Author

After auspiciously failing to get a "real" job, Adam Selzer (Illinois) became a professional ghostbuster and founded Weird Chicago Tours in 2006 with Troy Taylor and Ken Melvoin-Berg. He writes humorous books for children and young adults by day and gives some of the best ghost tours in Chicago by night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adam's Book was just as enjoyable as a Weird Chicago Tour!, March 2, 2010

I have been on a few Weird Chicago ghost tours since I have moved to Chicago, and it is the most interesting tour by far that Chicago has to offer. After hearing Adam's story telling skills on the tour, I had to check out his book, and couldn't put it down. I especially think anyone that is a Chicago resident and likes a good ghost story would love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous and Realistic, February 18, 2010
This is a humorous account of his journeys as a ghost tour guide. I liked that the author spoke of encounters he had of the ghostly kind but still remained skeptical. Ghost hunters generally take themselves too seriously and I am glad that Adam does not. I enjoyed this book a lot!

More About the Author

Adam Selzer is the proud coiner of the immortal phrase "you don't have to be smart to be a smartass, but it helps." He writes humorous books (both fiction and non) for readers of all ages by day and runs ghost tours in Chicago by night. If you can find two cooler jobs than that, take 'em! He is one of those people you hear about on the news who has to choose between paying off student loans and having a health care plan, and occasionally claims to be the third cowboy from the left in the famous "lost thunderbird photo." He is also credited by film historians as having inspired the film "Bedtime for Bonzo," which starred Ronald Reagan and a chimp. People who point out that said movie was released decades before he was born just don't know enough about quantum physics. Adam enjoys standing in long lines for tickets, and hopes to one day travel back in time to wait in line overnight for tickets to see a Charles Dickens reading.
