Book Description

November 15, 2011

Your Other Names is a collection of inspirational poetry from Tara Sophia Mohr, paired with art by photographers Tracey Clark, Susannah Conway, and Christa Gallopoulos.

"Tara Sophia Mohr’s prayer-like poems hold up a mirror to our best selves. In these poems we remember who we are: radiant, creative beings who craft our own paths – together. The deeply felt meditations combined with the live language plus Mohr’s refusal to settle for easy truisms will engage poetry lovers and spiritual seekers alike. Your Other Names is where Rumi meets Jane Hirshfield." - Jeffrey Davis, author, The Journey from the Center to the Page

"I love Tara's poetry. It's smooth and weighty, like a sea-polished stone, as well as fresh, penetrating, lyrical, and profound." - Rick Hanson, Ph.D., author, Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love, and Wisdom

"Tara's poetry is magic. Her words will revive your heart when you think it least possible, reminding you that joy, solace, and hope are not empty platitudes but in you, coming alive, even as you read. These wise valentines will call you out of the slough of self-doubt, overwhelm, and dullness, back into full beautiful life you are meant to live." - Jennifer Louden, author The Women's Comfort Book

"Tara Sophia Mohr's poetry accomplishes the most important mission of all forms of art: she reminds us that we are all one, and then speaks directly to each heart. Her whispers remind us of our own luminous presence: 'Don’t forget your true name: ...Strong cauldron for the feast of light.' " -Elena Brower, Founder, Virayoga and Art of Attention “I love Tara’s poetry. She reminds us we are part of a world far bigger than ourselves and that truly living requires we slow down to the rhythm of the natural world. Her words unblock the dam to the quiet river inside that still flows beneath the activity of our busy minds and lives.” -- Gail Larsen, Founder, Real Speaking®, and author, Transformational Speaking: If You Want to Change the World, Tell a Better Story

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous poetry to return to November 25, 2011
Tara's poems made me cry but they also accessed a deep current of joy and an ease I rarely feel. She writes absolutely beautifully about the human experience. I'll return to this book over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars To be Enjoyed Again and Again November 24, 2011
Even though Tara's poetry is written in her own exquisite voice, her work reminds me of the poetry of Mary Oliver and Sharon Olds. Like the works of Oliver and Olds, I will keep Tara's lovely book close at hand, give it as gifts, and dip into its pages again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartfelt and insightful November 22, 2011
The delicacy of Tara Mohr's poetry is matched by its insight. Whether she writes about the identities we choose, femininity or internal conflict, Tara Mohr strings together words in a way that exudes both strength and vulnerability at once. Her voice is distinct and she is able to speak about deeply personal matters in a way that is nearly universally relatable. Tara's latest collection will speak to all who carry questions within themselves.
