Value chains. They define how your business is changing today due to globalization, tech-nological advances, competition, outsourcing, and reliance on global interdependency. They also spell out how effectively your company identifies and manages risks—such as product failures, environmental disasters, intellectual property theft, paralyzing snowstorms, pandemic fears, skills shortages, reckless lending policies, terrorism, identity and technological theft, industrial espionage, and new technology exploits—that challenge your organization's resiliency.
Whether in the boardroom or on the trading floor, rapid change without a value-aligned and well-defined process for managing risks and establishing a risk-conscious culture is a recipe for disaster. How can your organization manage risk in this new environment? At Your Own Risk shows you how, with practical advice to ensure that you are prepared to overcome or prevent risks resulting from inevitable changes and global events.

This review is from: At Your Own Risk: How the Risk-Conscious Culture Meets the Challenge of Business Change (Hardcover)
This is a very good introduction to risk management for your company. He covers risk management for the supply chain, IT, product development, project managment etc.. Risk management is a very potent topic with the extreme weather events and political events we have experienced in recent years. This coupled with the extending of shupply chains around the world, made this a very timely book for me. Lynch's credentials are rock-solid in this field, haveing spent his entire career in this arena. He has a second book on supply chain risk management that was not as useful as this one.

This review is from: At Your Own Risk: How the Risk-Conscious Culture Meets the Challenge of Business Change (Hardcover)
Gary Lynch's achievement is to take the management of risk from being a dry governance requirement, many times drafted in isolation, into being an essential component of the corporate decision making process. I recommend At Your Own Risk to all those involved in driving the value chain in their company.

A whole new viewpoint,

This review is from: At Your Own Risk: How the Risk-Conscious Culture Meets the Challenge of Business Change (Hardcover)
I've been a line positions most of my life and thought about risk in my area, but generally thought it was someone else's problem. Lynch's book smashed through my denial. With an easy to read style with great examples, Lynch demonstrates that "Risk Awareness" needs to be part of a company's culture. I am handing this book out and asking associates to begin asking a lot more "What if..." questions.
