A Terrific Surprise!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Your Perfectly Pampered Pregnancy: Beauty, Health, and Lifestyle Advice for the Modern Mother-to-Be (Paperback)
I recently received this book as a "New Pregnancy" gift from my neighbor. When I looked at the cutesy pink cover and the drawing I thought, this has to be a frivolous book and I didn't even open it. But when I developed a pregnancy complication and none of my other books had any information on it, I decided to give this book a try - and BOY! was I ever glad I did! It turned out to have exactly the information I needed. The more I read the more I realized that this book is FANTASTIC - filled with such great health information on things you don't find in other pregnancy books. Plus it has some terrific beauty and fashion advice to boot! Now it's become my "bedside Bible" - and a day doesn't go by when I don't consult it for something! This is my first pregnancy and this book was so easy to read and understand and SO upbeat and positive - it's just a joy to read. If you are looking for a book that takes an intelligent approach to "mommy-care" without being complicated or hard to understand, this is YOUR pregnancy book. A terrific surprise - I just love it!

Mommy-sential reading!,

If you're looking for a pregnancy book that is candid and honest without being frightening, then this is the book for you! In this book Bouchez covers the standard things that usually show up in pregnancy guides, such as physical, mental and emotional changes; nutrition and exercise. However, what makes the book is made very clear in the title: how to pamper yourself as you nurture the new life growing inside of you. She doesn't just emphasize the importance of taking good care of yourself, but she offers wonderful suggestions on how to do it. For example, there are directions on how to create your own prenatal spa (and without spending much, if any, money). Browse through the chapter on the "Glow Factor" and choose a recipe for treating different types of skin conditions that arise during pregnancy (overly dry skin, sallow looking skin, etc)- she also includes tips and tricks for treating common pregancy discomforts such as nausea and insomnia that I'd never heard of before (aromatherapy!!). Added bonus, she includes homemade recipes for the aromatherapy solutions as well. In a nutshell, if you want a comprehensive book on the many changes you will encounter, as well as suggestions beyond "get plenty of rest" for taking care of yourself, buy this book!

Best book on pregnancy health and beauty,

Colette Bouchez' publisher didn't do her any favors with the title they assigned to this book. The title makes it sounds like this is a fluffy book when, in fact, it does a great job of discussing a range of important health and beauty topics that many moms-to-be worry a lot about during pregnancy: sex, skincare, weight gain, fitness, and so on. Definitely worth the money.

I bought this book based on the reviews, once I got it, it sat in my car for quite some time. The first time I picked it up was on one of those days were I just felt down. The opening paragraph had me in tears, it was exactly how I felt at that moment. Overall it's a good book, a lot of good information easy to read and an easy approach. This book is more about you than the baby, it doesn't have the month to month how big is my baby info, but it has the make the mom to be feel great approach. In addition the author is very educated and the book is packed with tons of good pregnancy info. Overall good book, I paired it with the Mayo clinic book and get both sides of both worlds.

Upbeat, informative, encouraging - and fun to read!,

I purchased this book for my daughter after reading the author's other book on menopause (for myself). I loved that book so much I figured I pick up this one too. I glanced through it before giving it to my daughter and found it to be extremely informative and very encouraging. It was realistic - but never presented a problem without offering a solution - and the tone is fun and upbeat. My daughter just loved it - and she said it helped her a lot! If you're a Grandma to be like I am, buy this book for your daughter or daugther in law - she'll love you for it!

Best Pregnancy Book I 've Read,
By Happy And Pregnant! (Greenwich Ct) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Your Perfectly Pampered Pregnancy: Beauty, Health, and Lifestyle Advice for the Modern Mother-to-Be (Paperback)
I am a newly pregnant Mom and I bought this book because I read another book by this author on how to get pregnant, followed her advice - and I conceived! So I decided to give her pregnancy book a try too - and it's amazing! It answers almost any question a mother-to-be could have -about everything from diet and execise, to sex, make up, hair coloring, stress, rashes and bleeding problems, what to take if you have a cold or a virus, what medicines are safe - I mean EVERYTHING! I was given several pregnancy books as gifts from family members, but they don't compare! I agree with other readers that the title is a little silly - and the cover very deceiving - but the book is FABULOUS - very down to earth, and very easy to read and understand! Not scary, just encouraging and honest! You will love this book!

Great idea,
This review is from: Your Perfectly Pampered Pregnancy: Beauty, Health, and Lifestyle Advice for the Modern Mother-to-Be (Paperback)
I have been trawling the reviews on book, looking for ones that I might like when I try for my own baby, and to get as much info as I think may help when the time comes.
This book looks fab in its more unusual approach but I agree that the title and cover design seem a bit to fluffy and somehow patronising. ONE thing that concerns me is that in an extract I read, she recommends using lavender oil in a home made massage oil. I was told by my friend and sister NOT to buy them anything containing lavender while they were pregnant and I worry about her use of aromatherapy in this sense. Overall, this seems like a good book to buy: fun, light-hearted and very useful. |
