Book Description

September 24, 2007
If you have ever wanted to learn more about the concepts and training principles of the "Dog Whispering" world, this "guide" will take you there. Complete with photo illustrations and specific instructions, you'll learn that "obedience techniques" are not just tricks to have a well-mannered dog, but are actually a "communication process" by which you and your dog can avoid misunderstandings. You will enjoy a unique and eye-opening opportunity, maybe for the first time, in understanding what obedience techniques actually mean to the dog. You'll be enlightened about the myths and misconceptions in dog training so you can recognize which training processes can work the best for you and your dog together. You will learn step by step how to be your dog's calm, benevolent leader and how to demonstrate "alpha leader controls" that your dog can naturally relate to. You will learn why and how you will never have to say "no" to your dog again. Plus, you'll learn to recognize different forms of aggression, what they mean and how they can develop and that "Leadership Controls" along with specific "Obedience-Communication" techniques deal with these aggressions, other behavior issues and much more. Through this personal guide, you will discover a less stressful way to train your special four-legged friend and enjoy him more than you ever imagined. It will open your mind and provide common sense insight into the wonderful world of communicating with your dog, just like you have always wanted. You will also recognize that whatever training methodology you choose to employ, that the principles you learn here can be used to enhance the proficiency of any process. If you are seeking that positive and fulfilling relationship with your dog without the confusion, frustration and guesswork, then it already began the moment you picked this book up.

About the Author

About the Authors Duff and Jane Lueder of Kninepal Dog Training have dedicated their lives to "helping dogs with people problems." Together, they have forty-one years of experience training people to communicate with their dogs in solving "problems" occurring with dog/human interaction. Over the years, they have worked privately with over 3000 families and over 5000 individual dogs. Duff began his K-9 handling career in law enforcement in 1982, having graduated from Rudy Drexler's School for Dogs, a prestigious and respected school known for humane and effective training for dogs in everything from man-tracking, narcotics detection and personal protection. Duff's law enforcement career began in 1972 with the Washington, D.C. Police Department; he was then recruited to the police departments of Georgetown University and Falls Church, Va., before moving to the Wexford County Sheriff's Department in northern Michigan, from which he retired. While in Michigan, Duff became a certified Handler/Trainer in K-9 obedience, behavior, man-tracking, protection, narcotics detection, image training, building search, crowd control and explosives detection. Jane became a certified obedience trainer in 1986. She is an experienced Vet Tech and veterinary practice manager, and works with Duff in all aspects of the business, while concentrating on puppies and health-related aspects of training. In law enforcement, Jane worked on the Sheriff's Posse, a search and rescue unit assisting in locating missing and lost persons through the use of horses. She was the first female Special Deputy in Wexford County and was Duff's back-up K-9 handler. In addition, Duff holds a bachelor's in social sciences and a master's in animal science. He co-authored "Dusty, Here" Understanding a Dog's Point of View in 2004 and authored Canine Reflections, Memoirs of a Police K-9 Handler/Behaviorist Trainer in 2005. He also writes a monthly column about dogs for The Belton/Honea Path News Chronicle.

5.0 out of 5 stars dog whispering and helping dogs with people problems, December 10, 2007

This review is from: Your Personal Guide to "Dog Whispering": & "Helping Dogs with People Problems" (Paperback)
THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER for the people that want to understand their dog more!!! I have many books on understanding dogs but this one has helped me more than ANY I have ever owned. It compliments many other "Dog Whisperer" books but is more in depth and staight forward. Within a day of practicing the recomended techniques suggested, I have been able to convey to my dogs what I need from them and they are now getting more of what they have needed from me. I have two dogs which were rescued from bad situations and one I have raised from 7 months old. Both rescue had "fear aggression" as well as other major insecurities. I am working on this and have progressed immensley using the understanding I have received from reading this book. This book has helped me understand what I need to do in order to KEEP my leadership role in their world which makes EVERYTHING easier for all of us. No dog owner should be without this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you want to know how to survive the Christmas puppy..., November 4, 2007

This book is a must-have for your dog training library. It's clear, orderly and just a plain old good read for anybody who's interested in actually communicating with a dog instead of simply conditioning it. Duff and Jane are experts in explaining exactly what it is dogs want, need and expect and how you can help yours understand your own expectations without being confrontational or quien es mas macho.

Do yourself a favor and put it on your Christmas wish-list. It'll be a gift for both you and your beloved (if sometimes frustrating) canine buddy.
