My Favorite Pregnancy Book
The day I found out I was pregnant, I went shopping and found this book on a shelf with dozens of other pregnancy books. After flipping through several, this is the one I selected. Throughout that pregnancy and my next, friends and relatives gave me several other pregnancy books. I read them all, and they all had good information, but this book remains my favorite. I...

Circumcision Information
As the mother of an intact son and the operator of a NOCIRC center I was displeased with the way circumcision is presented in this book. The author makes it sound like caring for the prepuce is difficult. First of all, no other body parts are removed from a person's body to make it easier for a third party to clean. My daughter's labia traps quite a bit of excrement...

Circumcision Information, March 18, 2007
This review is from: Your Pregnancy Companion: Month-by-Month Guide to All You Need to Know Before, During, and After (Paperback)
As the mother of an intact son and the operator of a NOCIRC center I was displeased with the way circumcision is presented in this book. The author makes it sound like caring for the prepuce is difficult. First of all, no other body parts are removed from a person's body to make it easier for a third party to clean. My daughter's labia traps quite a bit of excrement but I wasn't offered the option of having them trimmed to make wiping her easier. Second, no one besides the boy himself should ever retract or clean under his foreskin. Parents and doctors have no business pushing back, or otherwise manipulating the foreskin. There is simply no reason to do so. In boys whose foreskins have not yet loosened from the glans premature retraction can cause pain, tears, and let in the very infections that cleaning is supposed to prevent. In boys who are able to retract their foreskins all the care they need is normal soaking in a tub. Even after the boy hits puberty all he needs to do is retract and rinse in the shower. In fact, using soap can harm the senistive foreskin and glans. Just like the eyes and vagina, the foreskin is self-cleaning. Get your intact care information from a different source.

My Favorite Pregnancy Book, July 27, 2005
This review is from: Your Pregnancy Companion: Month-by-Month Guide to All You Need to Know Before, During, and After (Paperback)
I thought it was the perfect mix of accurate, informative medical facts and personal details from someone who knows what it's like to be pregnant. It was nice to read about the author's experiences here and there, as she'd give her own examples of things she went through.
It was a quick, interesting read and it answered all my questions. I've loaned my copy to many expectant friends!

The Best Book for your pregnancy, July 20, 2004
This review is from: Your Pregnancy Companion: Month-by-Month Guide to All You Need to Know Before, During, and After (Paperback)
Because it is smaller it can't go into too much detail -- which is actully a good thing because too much information can be scary.
I loved the month to month format.
I've given this to friends and family as they begin their families and everyone has loved it.

Good book for general info, January 19, 2000
This review is from: Your Pregnancy Companion: Month-by-Month Guide to All You Need to Know Before, During, and After (Paperback)
I liked this book because it was small and easy to read. The month by month format was really good. I also liked how the author shared her own pregnancy experience. However, because the book was small it couldn't go into a lot detail. This is a good first book for getting general information about pregnancy.
