5.0 out of 5 stars THIRD TIME IS A CHARM!
Deborahs third single into the US radio market is "Your Secret". A song that has every right to be playing on American Top 40.

However because of her former "Debbie Gibson" past radios do not embrace this wonderful pop star.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish this single had stronger remixes
"Your Secret" was a single from Deborah Gibson's 2001 album, M.Y.O.B. All the remixes on the disc were done by Mike Rizzo.

The "Pop Radio Mix" is an edit of the album version. I feel this edit is rather awkward; personally, I would have cut the opening vocals from the track, and started with the instrumental that follows. I like the feel of the album version,...

Deborahs third single into the US radio market is "Your Secret". A song that has every right to be playing on American Top 40.

However because of her former "Debbie Gibson" past radios do not embrace this wonderful pop star.

Deborahs "Your Secret" which has wonderful remixes by Mike Rizzo is a danceable, pop, very hookable song with Gibson again with fine vocals.

I just hope now that radio will embrace her. With songs like "What You Want", "MYOB" it is a shame that this artist can't have the pop world in her hand.

Gibson is the original Britney Spears with more sex appeal, personality, and definitely a better musician with a wonderful talent as a pop songwriter.

The artwork which Amazon never seems to have of her covers is a treat all its own showing a close-up of Gibsons right face with make-up artistry and with the title "Your Secret" to the left.

Gibsons album and single covers show beauty, sex-appeal, and intelligence unlike the pop artists today such as Spears looking like a tramp.

My hats off to you Deborah, you are the undeniable pop queen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let DEB Be, "Your Secret", November 7, 2001
By
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
Billboard said it, Rollingstone said it and now it's time for YOU to realize it; DEB is back and it's time to put biases aside and give props to an awesome track and an extremely talented performer.I'm positive that this single has the potential to not only top Billboard's club chart but also its top 40 chart.
But no matter how great the silngle is, it will not be a hit unless YOU DO YOUR PART; please, request "Your Secret" to local radio station and clubs near you. "A joyous dancefloor throwdown that sports a chorus that just won't quit."-Billboard Magazine. "Your Secret" is full of energy and great hooks, a perfect song to wrap up the year."-WZPL

3.0 out of 5 stars Wish this single had stronger remixes, November 13, 2007
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
"Your Secret" was a single from Deborah Gibson's 2001 album, M.Y.O.B. All the remixes on the disc were done by Mike Rizzo.

The "Pop Radio Mix" is an edit of the album version. I feel this edit is rather awkward; personally, I would have cut the opening vocals from the track, and started with the instrumental that follows. I like the feel of the album version, and always felt this song had the most potential as a single.

The "Hot Vocal Radio Mix" removes the "Latin influence" of the original, replacing it with an electronic/synth sound. The "Short Vocal Radio Mix" is a slightly different music track from the "Hot Vocal Radio Mix" (but the differences are rather subtle). The "Squeaky Clean Intro Mix" cuts the opening vocal intro of the song; musically, you can tell there are similarities to the previous two remixes, but it is easier to tell that there are also differences.

The "Secret Party Mix" takes too long to get started, and the repeated, distorted "I don't wanna"s are annoying. Just when you think the vocals are going to start, it goes back to instrumental again before the vocals actually kick in. The mix also takes too long to end; I feel the track would be stronger if it was shorter. "Deb's Dark Dub" sounds like the "Secret Party Mix," but the only vocals are the distorted "I don't wanna"s.

Overall, I feel the mixes sound too similar, and this hampers my enjoyment of listening to this single. Personally, I think that either Mike Rizzo needed to vary the music of the mixes a bit more, or that one or two other remixers needed to be brought in to remix "Your Secret" to avoid the "sameness" problem.

3.0 out of 5 stars HERE ARE THE BLOODDY TRACKS - SHEESH!!!:, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
1. Pop Radio Mix

2. Hot Vocal Radio Mix

3. Short Vocal Radio Mix

4. Squeaky Clean Intro Mix

5. Secret Party Mix

6. Deb's Dark Dub

Remixes by Mike Rizzo, he employs a mix of rhythmic and catchy pop melodies backed with thumpin' house/dance beats. Has done remixes for BSB, O-Town, Tamia, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross & Kylie Minogue. Oh, and Deborah Cox but there is more. I like Rizzo along with Mousse T and Maurice Joshua, there remixes are more on the pop and soul side of things opposed to the techno side.

5.0 out of 5 stars There ain't no secret..., December 22, 2004
A Kid's Review

...about how good this song is! I heard a mix of this song before called (Mike Rizzo's Dark Dub) mix of club/dance compilation CD called "NYC Dance Party." That mix is awesome! I enjoyed her vocals on the song as well. I believe if nearly any other singer did this song, it would have been a Top 10 or #1 hit. Overall, I am satisied with the remixes on this single. I hope she continues releasing dance remix CD-Singles. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great song, no support, February 4, 2002
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
I guess what I find frustrating is that a truly impressive dance song like "Your Secret" fails to garner the support, either on pop radio or in the clubs. It is a clear demonstration of the arrogance and discrimination of the music industry as a whole. It seems that the industry is only interested in pushing the "new thing" ... that being said, if you can find this track, definitely buy it. It has great vocals and a terrific arrangement.

3.0 out of 5 stars "Your Secret" is somewhat dated, but not too bad..., July 13, 2005
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
Recently, I brought the single "Your Secret" and listening to the album/radio version of the tune I thought it was fairly decent. While listening to the song, it sounds similar to Jennifer Lopez's 1999 hit "Waiting for Tonight." The remixes on the single were decent, but the overall thing which plagued her 2001 album release "M.Y.O.B", which plagues this song is Gibson's vocals sounds too plain. Instead of Gibson giving a breathy delivery (which should have been used on this tune), she instead sings the song without too much emotion. Gibson before has proven she has the octave range, the lower vocal register, and can perform a breathy and sexy song, but instead does not do this here.

Overall, the song is good and the remixes fair slightly better, but Gibson has performed better songs. Admittedly, the chorus is catchy and empowering but the song falls short of making this an excellent release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let the SECRET out!, February 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Your Secret (Audio CD)
You'd think that at least the Clubs would have embraced this worthy dance ditty! YOUR SECRET is a killer song! Catchy. Memorable. Her vocals a great. The lyrics are telling a fun story of Deb refusing to be the other woman. Radio and sadly, club dj's are clueless. Kylie's song is great and worthy as well. But wouldn't we love to see REAL talent prevail? This song is a highlight of her MYOB, which features a ton of great tunes including WISH YOU WERE HERE, co-written by the same guy she wrote SECRET with, Jerry Sharell. Keep 'em coming guys! Buy this cd! The mixes will get you going!
