Book Description

July 29, 2004
Your Signature Work expands on the concept of doing your personal best at work so that it reflects your goals, values, beliefs, and faith. As you strive for excellence, you'll influence others in your workplace. Dianna says that even if you feel trapped in a dissatisfying job or a seemingly insignificant career, your work matters to God, and your attitude can make all the difference in how you view your job. When you do find your true calling, your work will be a source of satisfaction and fulfillment--and you will be proud to sign your name to it.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

With many employees facing burnout and feeling overwhelmed in the course of a work day, it may be too much to ask that they be willing to put their "signature" on their work as if it were an artistic masterpiece. Yet that is what Booher, a business consultant and author (Speak with Confidence; The Esther Effect), encourages readers to do. Drawing upon biblical examples as well as real-life business situations, she calls for personal integrity in the workplace and in all areas of life, asking people to offer their very best effort all the time. Booher employs a basketball metaphor for the whole book: readers need to learn to play offense rather than defense, admit their fouls, learn multiple plays, call frequent huddles, keep track of their stats, turn hecklers into fans and always practice as if it were a real game. Also, they need to enjoy the off-season and multiply any endorsement offers. This hackneyed analogy grows old quickly and actually detracts from the sound advice contained in the book, which calls for dedication, passion and commitment to a cause. Such a noble message of personal honor and professional thoroughness does not deserve to be undermined by a pervasively cheesy basketball analogy. Somebody call a timeout.

What is your autograph worth?

When people ask artists, performers, authors, or athletes for their autographs, they are saying, “The work you do has value. You are worth listening to.”

In the same way, author Dianna Booher says, we are called to work in such a way that our work style and attitude attracts others to us and earns us a platform for sharing our faith. Using biblical principles, Your Signature Work identifies key principles of leadership, success, integrity, influence, and satisfaction that, if followed, will enable you to add your signature to the work you do each day and know that you’ve done your very best.

This review is from: Your Signature Work: Creating Excellence and Influencing Others at Work (Paperback)
If you desire to go beyond personal branding and leave a more powerful signature on your work and others, Dianna Booher can show you how. The book is organized around an easy to understand sports parable, but the simplicity of the structure belies the tremendous insights and ideas within. You'll be reminded of some things you already know (but may have forgotten) and get some fresh ideas for how to truly influence and impact others in the workplace. Dianna is a prolific author who continually creates new gems in her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Get your game on!!!", August 14, 2004

This review is from: Your Signature Work: Creating Excellence and Influencing Others at Work (Paperback)
"A problem defined is a problem solved." This quote from the book boils the premise down to the bottom line. Booher gives solid, practical, Biblical answers to the rhetorical, usually sarcastic question, "What's your problem?" The basketball metaphor throughout the book did three things: It kept my attention, taught me a lot about basketball, and helped me to see age old problems, as well as current workplace problems, from a fresh perspective. The Biblical examples throughout were not "preachy", but instead were enriching and encouraging. This book should be required reading at all levels in any workplace that wants to see excellence restored and individual hearts renewed. Truly inspiring.
