Starway to Nowhere,

This review is from: Your Starway to Love: Better Romance With Astrology (Paperback)
This book provides easy but over-simplified compatability analysis based on astrological birthcharts. You will need the birthcharts of both people to use the book. The format of the book is basically: if YOUR Mercury is in Aries, and THEIR Mercury is in Capricorn, here's what you'll need to do to get along! The problem is that when you look at it planet by planet or sign by sign in this way, you get a mish-mash of information -what if your suns get along and your venuses don't?? The book will not help you sort out these kinds of dilemmas. It just gives you a grid to use as a 'score card' to come up with an overall total - by which you are supposed to conclude if you are compatible with the other person you are tallying up. If you followed the system presented in this book, you would miss a lot of interesting and wonderful romantic opportunities. The book reduces the art of chart comparison to a score card, and a lousy score card at that.

This review is from: Your Starway to Love: Better Romance With Astrology (Paperback)
A lot of books about synastry delve into the mystery of matching or non-matching couples. What makes relationships work ? In this book Maritha Pottenger proposes her system based on scores you give on the planetary positions of the sun, the moon, the ascendant, mercury, venus and mars. These scores are written down on compatibility worksheets. Some case studies make the system clear. A great deal of the book is filled with interpretations. This is one of the many books that try to calculate the dynamics of a relationship. These systems all fail to give an explanation as to why some relationships with good high scores still fail (most will refer to the free will...). As most books this book does not keep into account the worth of midpoints and other very important astrological factors. You only get a small amount of information. If you want to buy a good book about relationships buy and study 'Magi astrology: The key to success in love and money' by the Magi Society.
