wonderful read - great book for content and book design,
By John Assalian "what's the deal" (oakland, ca) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Your Time Has Come (Paperback)
"Your Time Has Come" is a really special work. On my first read, I jumped around the pages. On my second read, I read it from front to back. It was on my second read I realized that my time had come to really feel the narrative. The book weaves vignettes that project movement, emotion and time. There is a lot of humor and more irony than a blue hotel.
The other distinguishing feature of the book is the design -- it is sparse with clean, modern typeography, There are no page numbers. The minimalism properly reflects the tone. Highly Recommended.

Lovely work,
By Mark Brown (Twin Falls, ID, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Your Time Has Come (Paperback)
Joshua Beckman's new book, Your Time Has Come, is one of the loveliest, most refreshing things to come along in the poetry world recently. These tiny, haiku-inspired poems accumulate to form a really pleasureable picture of the city, the water, various relationships, writing, not writing, friends, passers-by, etc. The book is simple and beautiful without being simplistic or overly concerned with prettiness. The highest compliment I can offer a book of poems is that it not only stimulated my mind, but made me feel something too. This wonderful little book does both.
