4.0 out of 5 stars Great for a laugh!! January 1, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This book, although very short, had me giggling out loud. The stories in here make you just love the characters, even though you know them only a VERY short time. The stories in here not only amuse you, but will teach you a thing or two if you know where or how to look. Some of the stories are so interesting, a full blown book can be made from them. My favorites out of the stories were Virtue, Personal Space, and Fred Was a Mutant. Those could have been fabulous novels. The short stories are very complete; however, and they make you want more. Definitely a good light read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and Unique, a fun collection. April 13, 2012

I have only recently discovered H. Jonas Rhynedahll. Frist through his A Key to Magic: Epic Fantasy series, then reading Potatoes, Come Forth! and finally this little number. I've enjoyed all of these books greatly. I'm definitely now a fan. This collection of short stories is something i would imagine is written while under the influence of many shots of tequila. It is entertaining and light and enjoyable. If you want to pass your time with a few chuckles and the occasional guffaw while not having to worry about deep and convoluted plots you will enjoy this.

A few short stories that are fun and easy to read. Relaxing bed time stuff and the price is right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not What One Would Expect September 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the series of short stories, they were well written, complete, and entertaining. The author was imaginative and created some interesting pieces that made one think. That being said, the title is a bit misleading. The stories are not all themed, and while two of them appear to be on topic to some extent, the rest are not. So, yes, I actually deducted a star for the title. I would recommend this as light reading to anyone who enjoys SF/Fantasy, but not to anyone who is interested in a virgin sacrifice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange tales August 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Certainly an offbeat collection of stories. I think they are well written and very funny in a weird sort of way. I would consider this a light read, easy to get a story or two in on a break or some-such. I recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not my kind of humor. May 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book on the promise of hilarity, what I got was lackluster at best.
I made it through two short stories before I banished it to the cloud to be forgotten, I did consider returning it on principle alone, but considering I bought it for a dollar I thought it would be churlish.

The biggest issue wasn't the writing, it flowed beautifully and was easy to read, nor the characters, which were well developed, it was the humor. The jokes fell flat and the wit was non-existent, after a few pages the jokes became predictable and followed the same vein.
Perhaps this style of humor just isn't for me? I recommend trying a sample of this novel for free before spending any money, it definitely isn't for everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book review September 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a good short read. Actually I expected more, it was not long enough. The title story was quite funny and I liked the satiracal aspect. (making fun of organized religion) Some of the other stories were very abbreviated.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever and witty
A creative play on things weird and slightly offbeat. Very enjoyable read. You can read a story and put it down, but you want to get back to it later and read the next one.

More About the Author

I'm old enough to have read Heinlein, Laumer, and Norton in their prime, but not Burroughs, Wylie, or Wells.

I live in a shack in the middle of a swamp(rainy season)/desert(dry season) at the end of a dirt road. Generally, regular folks can't find my house, but the government knows exactly where I live.

I have two degrees from accredited four year universities, a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Spanish and French, but sadly I neither program nor speak either language.

Most of the time I'm a farmer, sometimes I'm a construction worker, generally I'm a writer.

In the Spring and Fall, I tend to spend a lot of time in the activity depicted in my photo.

I write Fantasy and Science Fiction novels and short stories. I generally have a target audience in mind when I write and often that audience is not broad. I like action and adventure in my reading and favor it in my writing. If it's got elves, vampires, or unrequited love, I'm not reading it and I sure as the devil did not write it.
