Product Description

The War on Drugs is over. We lost. This brief polemic outlines the history of the drug war and documents its failures. Our tough approach makes the problems worse, and only hurts society's most vulnerable. This pamphlet addresses some common arguments against changing course and suggests a way forward.

5.0 out of 5 stars On good authority, November 30, 2011

This review is from: Your War on Drugs: 6,000 Words on the Shame of the Nation (Kindle Edition)
Morris's concise and well-thought out piece highlights important facts, to be sure, but what really makes this an interesting read is the anecdotal evidence he is able to share thanks to his work with the District Attorney's office in Washington.

4.0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful overview, December 4, 2011

This review is from: Your War on Drugs: 6,000 Words on the Shame of the Nation (Kindle Edition)
Morris' overview of current drug enforcement policy and its ramifications is clearly well considered. Despite his slightly bombastic tone, Morris manages to make his point convincingly, even bringing up some rather novel concepts along the way. I would love to see this flushed out into a more supported piece - although Morris seems to have strong and informed opinions, much of his research lacks thorough citation that would be helpful. Ultimately, Morris makes a passionate argument from a unique perspective and has the potential to be a strong voice on this topic in the future as he develops his research and ideas.

Whether or not you agree with his views, Morris's "polemic" (as he describes it) presents a concise, accesible, and useful take on the U.S. war on drugs. Filled with statistical and anecdotal data, this short piece delivers with a loud voice. I recommend this quick, thought-provoking read.

Robert Morris is the commentator no one asked for. He was raised in the NYC suburbs, educated in Ann Arbor, MI and Washington, DC, and is currently lawyering in Istanbul, Turkey.
