I have read all of Florence Scovel Shinn's works . . . andre-read them and re-read them. Ms. Shinn wrote her books between 1925and 1940, but through her books I have gained insights into how life works that are timeless and so full of truth! She says, "Nothing ever comes uninvited into your life." This is a painful but true statement. Read this book (and her 3 other books) and learn how to invite into your life ONLY what you need or desire!

This book is a book of statements/affirmations for almost any situation. After reading The Game of Life and How to Play it, one becomes painfully aware of a fact, that what ever you send out from your mouth, will come back to you. So, it behoves one to send out only good. This book has positive statements for most of the negative ones we tend to use in not-so-good situations of life. This little book is priceless to those of you in need of hope and a little guidance along life's path.

The concept of the power of belief has been well covered for decades and written about in dozens of places, but this author delivers the MESSAGE in a way I had not heard it before. It's interesting to me that I came across this book at a time when I was really striving to get my business off the ground. The timing was uncanny.

I was a little put off in the beginning by her focus on Biblical teachings and stories from the bible, but I soon got past it and was able to see the real message she was trying to convey. Perhaps I DIDN'T have all the answers. Perhaps I WASN'T alone in this universe. Perhaps there WAS a way I could "dial into" a power bigger than myself. I was raised Christian, I have just been so turned off by today's "Christians" who don't seem to emulate anything I was taught about being one.

Anyway, I read all three books STRAIGHT IN A ROW and even if I'd wanted to, I couldn't get them out of my head. I'd had ongoing back pain for months and one sleepless night I decided I had nothing to lose by trying Shinn's approach. I was absolutely SHOCKED by the outcome. Pain I had suffered for months was completely gone in three days. It started slowly, and by the third day, I had NO pain.

I encourage anyone out there who is suffering to DARE TO BELIEVE. I did and my life hasn't been the same since.

The Way She Has Written All Her Books is Definitely Not Of This World. If You Read Her Any Book You Will Crave for All of Them.

When you're experiencing feelings of jealously, anxiety, sadness, and fear, it's God's way of telling you that you are not on the path. Florence Shinn illustrates this concept beautifully in all of her books, including this one. The key to a prosperous and fulfilling life is getting in tune with the Infinite and staying on the path. Her books teach you exactly that. Her writing is instructional, inspirational, and very quick and easy to read. She uses real life examples to illustrate her points, which are something of a metaphysical interpretation of the bible. Her insights are incredible and have the power to change your life and the lives of others. She will change the way you look at the power of the universe, the energy around us all, and the ability you have to direct your life. Since reading her books, I have decided to live my life according to the "rules" of the game. My goal is to make them reflexive in my life so that I can apply them without having to think about it.

This is a thought-provoking little book, that you can take lightly or decide to incorporate into your own spiritual practice. Excellent, has been around for many many years and still attracting readers who are interested in changing their thought processes.

Florence Scovel Shinn's Your Word Is Your Wand is a quaint yet interesting book to read if you are one of the millions of people who are interested in the Law of Attraction. Her style is a bit dated and is although it is written in a language more familiar with the contemporaries of the later 19th and earlier 20th centuries much of what she parlays is timeless.

I was able to finish this book in almost record time. This book was an easy read from beginning to end and was quite thought provoking when looking behind the affirmations that were offered by the author.

Frankly, I had a bit of trouble with the organization of the book as it seemed to meander from subject to subject - sometimes the subjects were related and other times they weren't. This was more of a distraction than an actual impaired message. The layout from the publisher was most likely the biggest drawback. The book was printed in block style and quite often there were spelling and editorial mistakes and breaks in paragraphs, etc. If you could get past this you are the better for it.

Blemishes aside, f you are interested in positive life affirmations though this book is one of the classics and is a must for your personal library.

Cited in "Solar Plexus: The Secret Gravitational System," the wisdom of Florence Scovel Shinn still reigns from the early nineteenth century to today. Coupled with Emmett Fox, Wayne Dyer, and other philosophies, the Game of Life was part of an early exploration into spirituality for me; and the tools and tips therein are still applicable, such as "According to your faith, be it unto you," which is the same as, according to your thoughts and intention, ye shall manifest or receive.

"The fact is, we're living on a floating ball (planet Earth) orbiting in outer space" and this book reminds us that everything we need for life's journey is here on the sphere if we know how to tap into the vast resources available to all.

Had someone mentioned this book was heavy Jehovah Witness I would have saved $1.99. I found the religious tones distracting and removed this book from my e-book.
