Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

What Readers are Saying about Doug's Previous Guide, T2i Experience:

"Best Guide to using a T2i - I don't know how I could fully take advantage of all the features the T2i has to offer without this publication!  It's well-organized, easy to understand, and succinct enough to keep your attention while still containing a wealth of tips and tricks to get the most out of your camera."
-Nathan K.

"A comprehensive and concise guide for hobbyists who desire to enhance their photography. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to ease out of auto mode and learn how to take high-quality photos. The instructions and brief explanations are easy to follow and well organized.  The guide is a portable class on digital photography!"
-
Elizabeth J.

"A Fantastic Book For Beginning T2i Users - This book has exactly the no frills condensed practical advice on camera settings that I was looking for. The author has a gift for separating the wheat from the chaff. I didn't have a clue how to operate a digital camera, let alone know the definition of the technical terms.  After reading this book, I now understand all the critical functions of the Canon T2i and how to take advantage of them. This is a book I plan to keep handy for years to come."
-TP

What Readers are Saying about Doug's other dSLR User's Guides:

"This book, together with the manual that came with your camera, is all you need to start discovering all the potential of this camera."
-Max M.

"It's the first guide I've read which has taken me through all the settings in an understandable way. I now feel that I have control over the camera."
-Peter S.

"This ebook is helping me actually understand the camera at my own pace, and best of all is that the book isn't hard to understand.  It's a great book that I carry on my iPad wherever I take my camera."
-IME

"I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a quick start to using their camera.  Manuals are nice, but this eBook highlights the important information and gives a quick easy to understand explanation of most all of the functions and controls."
-Ray M.

"I found the (camera's) manual good for understanding how to set things up but not much on the why - this book really focuses on the "why."  The guide helped me understand why to use specific settings for specific needs.  The Custom Settings sections helps to make firm decisions on how to apply settings by understanding the usage of each in addition to knowing how to set them up."
-Benoit A.

"This manual is a clearly written, concise and useful explanation of the rationale for the seemingly infinite and often confusing settings options.  Used in conjunction with the (camera's) manual I feel a bit more confident in understanding how to at last proceed in getting better photographs."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Advice for Learning the Nuances of your 60D April 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I purchased several of the Doug Klostermann's camera guides in working through my purchase process. I ultimately settled on the Canon 60D. The guide was excellent at walking someone who is new to the menus on each camera model through the each setting, giving advice on how the setting might be helpful, and giving suggestions on which settings he recommends. I would definitely consider purchasing one of his guides for the next body I purchase to get me up and running and to fully understand and utilize the features on the camera to the max. His guide on the 60D also includes information about Canon lenses and his recommendations for which lens to buy next to go with your 60D. His guides are highly recommended if you are looking to understand the features of your DSLR and have the recommendations from a professional as to how to best use them.

If you want to learn how to use the Canon 60D to its fullest potential, I recommend you purchase this book. It is not a rehash of the manual, but explains how the settings affect your shots so you know how you want to set up the camera. Further, this book improved my skills as an enthusiast photographer through the explanations. I highly recommend this book which is fun to read and easy to understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very informative and to the point November 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the 3rd, and least expensive, book I felt I had to buy to operate my 60D with skill The manuel is good, but does explain why to use what!

This author is well organized. Very specific recommendations and a rational for each. While the first two books were helpful, I was still not whee I wanted to be. This book filled in the missing gaps. Now, in retrospect, I could have gotten by with just this one ebook.

One can get buy by not understand and using many of the 60D features. However, I am convinced knowing the features inside out, and not having to think about settings, allows one to focus on the picture--even in bad lighting conditions. Now I know all the buttons, and have them set for my needs. Now I can work in the dark, with out much forethought--ie, automatically.

This book is the best value for the buck of the three I purchased. . Some topics, while mentioned, are neglected. The reason why is explained and references are given for those so interested.mentioned. Fair enough for me, as he didn't neglec any major topics--just offered advice o go in one's interest is different...

The book helps to understand the camera and to use it better.
Requires only the ability to combine this book and the manual of the camera itself.
I would recommend this book to anyone who has the camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for anyone new to the art/hobby. February 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am about to retire and add photography as a hobby. I found Klostermann's "Your World 60D" to be invaluable in taking away my fears of new concepts such as; ISO, depth of field, focal length, etc. comforting. His guide to the Canon 60D was clear, concise and moved me to select that camera as my first.
Would highly recommend this offering to anyone new to photography and would consider it essential to any first-time buyer of the Canon 60D.
