4.0 out of 5 stars THE CHILD DEVIANT
This album sounds much different from the prior Panzer AG album (This Is My Battlefield). In some ways, I like it more, though, in other ways, I think it's kinda un-original in comparison. This album, 'Your World Is Burning'....is certainly influenced by early NIN and modern Marilyn Manson. If you don't like 90's industrial rock bands such as Manson/KMFDM/ or NIN, than...

2.0 out of 5 stars It's too late, Andy
I'm not entirely sure what Andy was trying to do with thing Panzer Ag release, but it sounds not unlike the golden age of coldwave to me. Well, minus the "golden" part.
Get rid of the cold, digital sound of the softsynths and replace them with sequencers, though, and a lot of the songs start to bear great resemblance to those of the great groups from the 88-94 era...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Industrial album of the year...so far..., May 9, 2006
This review is from: Your World Is Burning (Audio CD)
After going back and listening to the first album by Panzer AG, I've come to the conclusion that this is best album he's made. Why? Because it's completely different from the last album. "This is my Battlefield" felt more like his CombiChrist project, which I'm not a fan of. It just doesn't really make any leaps into new territory, as it's basically Anthony LaPleags [I'll never spell his name right] noise/aggro EBM project. The first Panzer AG sounded a bit too much like it, only coming at a different direction in most cases. However this album goes on a different direction entirely. Gone are the cries to god about what he wants from him, the gothy human servitude and sadness lyrics. But what we have is great all around catchy and well crafted songs. After listening to this album several times I STILL can't get "Machine Gun Go Go" outta my head. It's got a bit of rock guitar sound with his signiture drum kicks and bass. Now fans of the last album shouldn't worry, he still has his aggressive tracks such as "Crash N Burn" "Aenimal" and "Tip the Dancer" just to name a few. So don't let the sudden change in direction detour you from this album. The track list is shorter then the last album, but that's because it's not choked full with filler tracks that bogged down the replay value of "This is my Battlefield". I have to say this is the best project from Anthony. Definately pick this album up! Like I said..best album of the year so far for industrial....at least until the new Front Line Assembly comes out later this year. So we'll see where this album lands :)

4.0 out of 5 stars The aftermath of the great battle, June 20, 2006
By

His previous album (This Is My Battlefield) was a great example of industrial techno that shatters the grounds you step in through the english/german lyrics and the exploration of government corruption. Combine it with some WAR elements and you are trembling through the battlefields in great fear. This next one (Your World Is Burning) was a big change from his first album, yes, but I look at in a sense of it being an aftermath of what happened after his first album or after this war, sorta say. You go through the feelings of mourning (Moerketid, Mother, & It's Not Too Late), through the disturbances of the aftermath (Crash N Burn, Monster, Among The New, Tip The Dancer, & When I Am You). Finally, you finish off the last few lying around (Machinegun Gogo, Paper Angels, & Aenimal) after Introduction OTD. This new album was quite a retire from his last album, but perhaps he'll return later with a full stock of ammunition to fire off another ground-shattering masterpiece. I hope this review makes sense in a way...Just a new beginning for Panzer AG after a bloody battle. I give 'Your World Is Burning' 4 stars for a fresh change.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's too late, Andy, June 3, 2006
This review is from: Your World Is Burning (Audio CD)
I'm not entirely sure what Andy was trying to do with thing Panzer Ag release, but it sounds not unlike the golden age of coldwave to me. Well, minus the "golden" part.
Get rid of the cold, digital sound of the softsynths and replace them with sequencers, though, and a lot of the songs start to bear great resemblance to those of the great groups from the 88-94 era. Aenimal, minus the computers, sounds oddly like Spahn Ranch. I just don't get it, though. That style of music is dead for a reason. No one wants another Hate Dept. album. The various avenues have all been explored. Andy brutally plunders the old albums, though, and updates them for the 21st century. Sadly, the Coldwave sound doesn't seem to work anymore.
There are a few odd cuts on the album though. Among The Few is a crappy ballad, sung without any genuine feeling and with utterly cliche'd guitar work. Not Too Late gives another shot at the ballad. This time it almost works, but the very dull chorus squishes it.
And Mother? I physically cannot listen to it anymore without bursting into fits of laughter.
The last song, however, ends the album with a sweet taste that almost masks the drek. When I Am You is a brutal harsh electro masterpiece that uses the live guitars to brilliant effect, as well as a surprising live violin. The drum track is tribal and driving. The lyrics, though silly, are made up for by the hauntingly clever vocal effects. And the chorus, if it can be called that, is utterly emotive.
So one star for that one song. Hell, two. It's just that good.
If you have money to throw away, pick this album up just for When I Am You. I'd advise just buying the single off itunes though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging beats paired sith so-so lyrics, November 6, 2006

I'm new to this group... and I have to say that this CD impressed me. I found it in the dance section at Borders, which is an odd place to find it. Still, I suppose it fits the bill of "dance" if only slightly. It is electronic heavy... reminicent of industrial greats like Nine Inch Nails and some Marylon Manson. The overall sound of this album is goth-creepy... which sereves its purpose with helping me write my short "horror" stories. The beats are nothing to scoff at as they are quite engaging... "Aenimal" "Machinegun Gogo" "Paper Angels" but aside from the deliciously wicked "Monster" the lyrics all leave a little something to be desired. My ultimate reason for only giving four out of five stars is the fact that most of the songs feature repeated chorus's and verses... as if the whole song was written around half a songs worth of material.

5.0 out of 5 stars A healthy change, May 25, 2006

When I first heard that the new Panzer AG album was going to be largely different than the last album, I was a tad bit sad and a bit nervous that this new album would not deliver. After a few hearings, I've come to the conclusion that Andy LePlagua can make Industrial rock music as opposed to his regular Power Noise/EBM/Elektro works.

The other reviewers are right when saying that this AG style is different than Andy's last AG album. "Your world is burning" has a Nine Inch Nails meets Marilyn Manson feel to it. There are a few songs however that do stay a tad true to the old AG style, Paper Angels being one of them.

If Icon of Coil remains Andy's FutureSyth band, and CombiChrist remains as his hard-hitting Elekro project, Then Panzer AG should definitely remain as his Industrial Rock project. However, if this is the case, then his first album will look like a Panzer AG black sheep 10 years down the road.

This album is laughable. I am a giant fan of both Icon of Coil and Combichrist and all I can say is, save your money... Panzer Ag = brain hemorrage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Recall this album before somebody gets sick!!!, June 20, 2007

Yuck! The prior Panzer AG CD was way, way, way better. This album sounds like a rip off album of...I'm not shure who? Every radio band you can think of. The album cover is awesome, but most of the songs are lame. I hate the stupid songs like "Tip The Dancer", and "The Monster under your bed". If you loved the much better album (This Is My battlefield), than you'll probably hate this album. Total crapola.

This album is amazing. If you are an industrial music fan, buy this right now. The sound is like a combination of the ohGr albums mixed with KMFDM and alittle Manson. Without a doubt the best album I've heard so far this year. Can't wait for the new Combichrist.

1.0 out of 5 stars What Was LaPlegua Thinking?!, June 1, 2006
This review is from: Your World Is Burning (Audio CD)
Panzer AG's newest release is TERRIBLE, a prime example of the devolution of Industrial music. "This is My Battlefield" set the stage for Panzer AG's signature sound, and regardless of what anyone else's subjective opinion is, it sounded NOTHING like Andy's releases under the CombiChrist project. I was anxiously anticipating the release of this album, UNTIL I heard a snippet on Metropolis. It was then that I realized it was going to be a horrible disappointment. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, thinking Metropolis arbitrarily posted the worst song on the album to listen to, I still wanted to hear the rest of the album. A friend bought it, and true to the devolution I spoke of a few moments ago, I realized that Metropolis had selected the BEST clip for preview. I honestly couldn't make it through the entirety of any of the tracks without contorting my face in a wretched snarl.

With the previous Panzer AG release, as with Icon of Coil, Scandy and CombiChrist, LaPlegua made a name for himself by NOT meshing any elements previously branded by other "Industrial" projects, and I use the term "Industrial" very loosely here. He had a sound distinctly his own, and wholly different from the signatures of his other projects. Now, he's doing nothing but pandering to the masses, almost in an effort to become more mainstream. The irony is, because of his originality BEFORE this release, he had scaled the eschelons of Industrial eliteness with ease. CombiChrist, Icon of Coil and the OLD Panzer AG were being heavily sought out. He'll be REALLY lucky if he doesn't receive a sound beating from previously adoring and devoted fans for the atrocity he's released onto the scene.

So many wonderful Industrial projects have done exactly what LaPlegua has done. I know I will burn in the fiery pits of Industrial Hades for saying this, but NIN and Marilyn Manson are NOT Industrial, people. Manson is nothing more than "Hell Rock", and NIN are what I consider the gateway to Industrial. Through an introduction to NIN, you're given introductions to more obscure projects. Feel free to burn me at the stake for this, too, but NIN had ONE good album, and that was "Pretty Hate Machine"; everything else is just like this new Panzer AG... It leaves you with a "WTF" taste in your mouth, and just an all over disdain for it and possibly anything else he could create.
