Oh, it was a great time in the 80's when all the members of Labelle were recording, touring & releasing albums. This was the 4th album by Sarah Dash, after recording 3 albums for the Kirshner label from 1978 - 1981. I was excited to hear Sarah solo once again. After all, she has an amazing voice. Sarah had all the high tones that made Labelle's unison harmonies that much stronger.

Here, on this album , there is some pretty material, but Sarah the powerhouse singer, is held back by the producers. She doesn't sing as she could. You CAN hear her power on " IT'S OVER ", where Sarah really lets loose towards the middle of the song & makes it a show stopper. " FEEL GOOD " is a nice uptempo track, which gives the album diversity. I would have liked more songs that Sarah could really sink her voice into and soar, like on her 3 previous albums. Elsewhere, the material is surprisingly weak. " AFTER LOVE " the closer is good though with Sarah singing very sweet , like a whisper. " YOU'RE ALL I NEED [ TO GET BY ]" is sung with Patti LaBelle , so you have two of the 3 members of Labelle , but it's missing any kind of sparks. An original song would have been better than a remake for such a special occasion.

Soon after the release of this album, Sarah experienced a big boom with her work on KEITH RICHARD's first solo album, and toured with him as the only female singer in his band, The X-Pensive Winos, plus sang on THE ROLLING STONES album " STEEL WHEELS". Plus , she sang with Keith on his 2nd solo album & toured with him again. It's too bad that no solo work came about after such illustrious credits as these. It would have been fitting for Sarah to have done work with Keith or members of the Stones on her own album after all that work with them. Sarah did join Patti & Nona for the first new Labelle group song since 1976 on the song " RELEASE YOURSELF " on Patti's 1981 Grammy winning album " BURNIN' ". They also reunited to sing this song together in concert for Patti's video " PATTI LaBELLE LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY ". Both are worth owning , as they are incredible to enjoy the Labelle experience again.

Great to have for Sarah Dash & Labelle completists.

Although I rated this CD 3 stars, if given the opportunity, I would've rated the song "You're All I Need, To Get By" (featuring Patti LaBelle) 5 stars. Patti is my FAVORITE artist of all time. Now that I have gotten this song from this CD, I can honestly and officially say...that I have EVERYTHING that Patti has ever recorded!!

This CD is good and the duet with Patti is pretty unique, I'll never heard "You're all I need" sung like this before so its a treat and the fact that Sarah did a good solo project. I prefer her early days with LaBelle but hey you can't have everything you want LOL -A GREAT and RARE BUY"!
