I can't believe their have been no reviews for this excellent overview of Roky Erickson's catalog. This is a nice single disk overview of Rocky's best stuff. It starts with two 13th floor elevators songs and has seven well selected solo gems. I also really like that it has 3 very rare acoustic home recordings included on this soundtrack only. You even get to hear Roky ask if one of them was recorded after he finishes singing. The "I Have Always Been Here Before: The Roky Erickson Anthology" 2 CD set is a better value but I like the Stu Cook produced version of "Two Headed Dog" better on this CD than the original single version included on the 2 CD set. This is a really good CD for the curious or the obsessive collector that needs everything.

This man's comeback is a sweet dream...unbelievable. I could totally hear Cobain singing "Goodbye Sweet Dreams." The documentary this CD was produced for tells the story...what a life and glad he's back.

I have to say that this documentary is a great look at a true original American artist and his stunning rise, unfortunate fall and glorious resurrection. As far as soundtracks go,this disc does what it`s supposed to do - be a collection of songs and pieces of music from a film. That is where this disc takes it a bit further because it`s not just a great collection of some 13th Floor Elevators stuff and his various solo offerings because that would be sufficient. For the people who knew nothing but are NOW interested, its exactly that fact that makes this a neat disc for someone interested in Roky and the music they heard in the film and a stepping stone to even more great music.

As a longtime fan,I have everything already but even I have to admit that I bought this disc for the final song - Goodbye Sweet Dreams. At the end of the film with his brother watching intently, his therapist asks Roky to play a song for them and without hesitation he gives them this song.Besides being a fantastic solo rendition of the song,it`s also a stunning justification that he is still the same strange but talented human being everyone knew and that he is finally back to playing form and willing to share his long buried gifts again and it makes me smile everytime I hear it.
