This is an excellent CD that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the bottleneck blues. Like the other reviewer I would compare Rev. Brown to the great Blind Willie Johnson who by the way is one of the greatest bottleneck players ever to put music on a disc. When you think of the rarity of recordings of this nature, especially in the outstanding fidelity represented on this disc you have to snatch these great recordings up before the recordings become obsolete. The bottleneck playing here is top notch and the singing is hauntingly beautiful. I only wish more recordings of this nature would be released from the Arhoolie vaults before the culture no longer desires to remember the great minstrels from the past. If you don't have this CD, Get it! You'll be glsd you did.

This is a great recording of the great street gospel blues singer Rev. Pearly Brown.While not quite as powerful and brilliant as the great Blind Willie Johnson(Who Is?);He is one of the best guitar evangelists recorded;very intense gospel blues shouter ,with some heavy Mississippi delta/Georgia piedmont feel in his guitar style. A nice alternative to Blind Willie Johnson!
